do you know why price of tomato is increasing in summer mainly??
the answer is :tomato requires a optimum temparature of 20-27 degree celcius.the growth will be vigorous in that temparature.and water also available plenty.but in summer minimum temparature will be 30 degree celsius.(30-40).due to this heavy temparature plant cannot synthesise their own food by photosynthesis.and water scarcity is one more reason.
if we grow tomato in Greenhouses by maintaing optimum temparature,we can grow healthy crop.
this problem is in india mainly.
but in Rainy season also, due to high rains & floods pest attack will be more & crop will be washed away.
these are the main reasons for reducing tomato yield in india.

hi! i think tomatoes are very important in cooking, so thats quite sad, as tonight i made a chickpea curry with tomatoes. it's hard here too in australia, coz there isn't a lot of rain...the oranges in the garden are a bit sour due to the lack of rain also.
