When General Petraeus was confirmed by Congress, it was unanimous. He said that he would command the new strategy in Iraq and report the progress in September. Congress patted him on the back and said they supported him... they lied.
As soon as he left Washington, spineless worms in Washington began to betray him. The reinforcements weren't even in place before they announced the mission a failure.
Now we have Republicans who are diving into the cesspool. The mission has barely began, and they are jumping ship.
Are there any in the House or Senate who deserve to be reelected? They deserve nothing more than being treated with the same distain they show for our troops.

Remember that the Congress was controlled by the Democrates. I am sad that at one time I fell in the class as "Get out of Iraq" Republican. I do not know maybe I was just scared of losing another election. I played it off as being as non-interventionist. But after hearing a taped message from a terrorist saying that they want to try Iraq in to a new Taliban stlye government. We cannot leave, we must win. General Petraeus is a good man. He deserves the support of the government.

Agreed! I wonder why people think that if we stop, they will?

I really don't believe that a whole lot of them deserve to be reelected. The problem with the House and the Senate is the majority of them don't have friends and family, like most of us fighting in the war. I wish they would get their act together to support our troops.

The problem is, many of them that do know troops are still willing to sacrifice them for their pathetic political careers. Hang them all, vote against the incumbent!

The American public is very fickle. And our legislators seem to be weathervanes or windsocks. [Oh, I like the windsock image.]
It reminds me of sheep without a shepherd and sheepdogs. In fact, public opinion is as bad. Whomever controls the media controls our minds.
Big Brother is here.
