We live in an area where we often lose our electricity. It's no fun when the lights go out, but we make the best of it. We have a little fire place in our backyard. We light a fire and sit around it and toast marshmellows and drink ice tea if it's hot enough.
Sometimes we fill a baby pool with cold water and stick our feet in it to cool off. We sleep in sleeping bags in the sunroom with all the windows open if it's too hot.
How often do you lose your electricty in this heat and what do you do to keep yourself amused or how do you stay comfortable when the lights go out?

Last year I think we only lost it once. We haven't lost it this year but I know other areas of Bakersfield (where I am) has and it's terrible when it's so hot! Today is 96 but it's overcast so it'll feel hotter. Last week it was 108 degrees.

VERY seldomly do I lose electricity. The last hurricane that came thorugh here (Katrina) Almost every one we knew outside of our neighbor hood lost power, even people just up the street. Kinda funny though because my house basicly turned into a hotel for about a week.
