It is being a month of pregnancy but not yet got the ultra sound test and donno when they would let me know if its a girl or boy, can anyone guide me on notes of what to eat and what not to during this time, I am on my prenatal vitamins but not knowing what to eat and what not to. Some say should eat banana some say no, some say pineapple while others say no. Checked out so many sites but in vain, wish to know some Indian foods which should be avoided. Mom out there please help.

well, sound so exciting. I have 3 years old baby girl too... it takes 4 to 5 months to know the s.ex of the baby. so you have about 3 to 4 months to go. I dont care about fruits.. I eat all of them and especially you should eat soup, chicken soup, but not raw meat (beef is not too good for u and the baby). You should get some vitamin from the doctor, like iron vitamin and stuff like that, dont take any other medicine that is not from the doctor. Dont drink coffee or hot chocolate, they are not good for the baby. Eat carrots for baby eyes and hair, drink fresh coconut juice for skin... a lot more. Other thing, dont take shower after 9pm that makes the baby grow too big. Drink milk is good for u... I wish you all the best.

well, that what my people believe. It is just like taking a nap everyday that could make the baby getting bigger and it is hard for the mother. I dont know, but that what My mom told me. we are asian so we have to follow what old people say.

You really should get a pregnancy book. But here are just a couple of tips.. be careful about your fish intake, you don't want to eat too much mercury. Also, you need to stay away from Hot Dogs and lunch meat.. these items are usually smoked and you risk getting sick.
No matter what.. you want to try to eat a balanced diet. You really don't need to be eating that many more calories during pregnancy (only about 300 extra a day). Eat as healthy as possible and of course make sure you take your prenatal vitamins, this is very important!
Who would say you can't eat a banana? You sure can! In fact, if you are getting a lot of leg cramps it would be wise to have a banana for the potassium.
You want to stay away from caffine for the most part. Some old thought was to stay away from it 100% but that isn't really the case anymore.
Stay away from artificial sweetners (except moderate amounts of splenda should be okay).
I know this isn't food related but if you have a cat make sure someone else cleans the litter box. This is VERY important!
Make sure you drink enough water, this is very important for your health and the health of your baby (2 quarts at the very least per day).
It wouldn't hurt if you start eating organic either.
I still suggest you get at least one pregnancy book. A good one is Great Expectations.
You won't know if it's a boy or girl until (I think about 5 months) unless you have an amnio.
Good luck!

You miss one thing, No smoking or drinking. Stay away from those people as far as possible.

Doing Ultra sound is ok but knowing gender is something different. In some countries girls are considered unwanted so after finding gender they do terminations. It is real happiniess to know after delivery whether boy or girl. Eat lot of green vegetables, fruits and feel confortable and happy.

Firstly its the wrong thing to find out whether its a boy or a girl......all such ultra sound, tests n gender determination tests are banned n u not supposed to take them......n the most sad part about it is that the educated class is doing it...inspite of knowing it tat its not supposed to be done ppl still do it....ne ways no for wat is done is done........i'd say you have your proper diet......do not have too much fatty food.....hav food with proper protiens, energy, calcium n all these things......its gonna help both u n ur child....these things r really helpful in the long run......sometimes also have some carbohydrate contents.......n never loose out on cereals and pulses...it is very important.
