Where do your children do their homework?

This question came to me during another discussion about a child's room being used for homework. I remember doing homework in my bedroom when I was growing up. It was the only place I did homework.
Children today, however, I don't believe do their homework in their bedroom. First, in most cases parents are expected to help their children with their homework so it is done in the kitchen or dining area. In my house books get strewn all over the family room floor. Occasionally my 14 year old will do her homework in her bedroom, but not at her desk at all. It's spread out all over her bed.
So what do you think? Is a mother disillusioned if she expects her child will be using their bedroom to do homework?
I am referring to children of elementary school age, not high school. My daughter is just entering high school and could change her homework ways but I don't know yet. I would think with the bigger work load in high school they would start doing their work in their bedroom but I won't bet the house on it.

My son does his in the living room on the coffee table or on the floor. He has a desk but most of it is taken up by his PC and a fish tank.
When I was growing up my mom bought both my brother and I a full furniture set which included a large desk. Sometimes I did my homework at mine, but often I just did hoemwork on the kitchen table. I am 29, so I don't think kids doing homework wherever is a new trend.

When I was in high school my homework habits got worse. I would typically do my homework on the floor in my room or on my bed - usually with the radio or TV on.

My son does his at the dining room table. I tried to have him do it in his room, but he goes off into his own little world and doesn't get it done. He does have a desk in there, but even when it is clean he won't do his work on the desk. Plus when he's at the table I can help him if need be.

That is exactly my point. The mother referred to in the other discussion said that a decorative bedroom would distract her son from doing his homework. I don't think kids do homework in their bedrooms anymore. When I was growing up, every one of us kids (5 of us) did our homework in our bedroom and parents' assistance was very limited. If we needed help we called a classmate. Times have changed.

My son, the last kid, does his HW on the couch in front of the TV. He has a nice desk in his room but it's covered with many of his favorite things and there's no room for books and papers.
He's going into 7th grade. His older sibs usually used the dining room table, although one did his during the hour ride home on the school bus.
I did mine in my room, but I had both a radio and a TV on and it helped me learn to focus and drown out what I didn't need at the time. I would recommend HW in a noisy place for this reason.
