hi friends, what I observed in recent TV shows on different Indian channels is that every channel is conducting different music competitions for different age groups. This has increased the number of people learning music. My hometown is in Andhra Pradesh a southern state of India. when I visited there last time I found that small children,youth,middle aged and even veterans were all going to different music classes.when I asked them what are they learning they said they are all learning classical music as it is the basic requirement to compete in the competition. I was shocked. Because at one time when we were taught classical music in the school for free children never paid attention to it saying it will not bring them any income. only those who were interested used to learn seriously. and now people pay fees for the music, go to far off distances also to learn the same music for the sake of TV shows. Don't you think surprising?
