In this edgy world we live in should politicians play with our lives.
The latest example of this is giving Rushdie a knighthood, then when threats begin say we will not back down fronm the British way of life.
I am all for principles and some things, like unprovoked terrarist attacks should be stood up agains
but...what right have our politicians got to put us, the public, indanger for such a trivial principle.
Anyway what the hell has Rushdie done to deserve it, perhaps give the Labour party some money???

It is important that we are not intimidated by Muslims showing off like a bunch of spoilt girls

No. That would to be intimidated.

If you consider his contribution to literature, he surely does deserve a recognition for what he has done. And isn't that what awards/knighthoods are supposed to do-bring somebody the recognition they deserve?
But then, in this age where everything seems to have a political connotation and an ulterior motive, maybe we can't say.
