Buildings and spirituality.

Taj Mahal - Don't you feel this building has a feminine soul?

This is another one in my serie of "metaphysics and ..." or "do ... have souls". I have changed the word for spirituality since it seems to have a broader meaning propicious for different opinions. So as usual: do the buildings have a soul? Do they have special metaphysics? What about when a house is haunted? What about religious temples? The little I know about the Masons philosophy, I have heard that they call god the Architect, and the word mason comes from french "builder". So somehow it is a religion/philosophy of the buildings, althought it blends with christianism and others. They, and other similar christian or semi-christian secret societies, are the authors of the masterful churches built all around Europe, in which you feel something mistycal and special just by entering it. The knowledge to build them is thought to come from Egypt (as many other masons wisdoms) and some influences from Asia. This move us back in time. We all know about the Pyramids, which are actually tombs and also provoque this special feelings. It don't seem to be a funtional construction at all, so I guess in their design there was more than just a building, there was some special geometries combined with magik to make this building alive and eternal (like a soul). This explains why there were this amazing constructions in other far civilizations, such as in Mexico, Canary Islands, and Australia. Of course, there are also theories that claim Egyptians have sailed to this countries and taught them how to build pyramids. What do you think? Are there special metaphysics in pyramids, or are them just an egyptian contagious obsession? The other line of research, the Asian, target us to Feng Shui, a milenary "art" or set of knowledge about how to build a confortable place good for life. This tradition talks about "cosmo-teluric" energies, some good and bad energies that can be equilibrated with a good construction. Aren't this like souls or metaphysical energies? Is Feng Shui another "buildings religion/philosophy"? All religions have their special way of building a Temple, and their construction has a special ritual, isn't this ritual a preparation for good metaphysics that have to be able to mediate in the comunication with the divinity?

P.S. to me meditaton is communing with silence.. the silence.. and is the quieting of the mind (that noisy place!) so still and quiet, one can 'hear' the 'voice' of the deity.. Nothing else compares! yes?:)

Yes it is writen "be still and know God" Meaning be still in our minds and then we can hear God. The reson people say that God has never spoken to them is becouse they love hearing their own voice more.

I do not think the buildings have souls but with buildings and structures we can create lots of centralized energy to a point just look at the pyramids coral castle and Stonehenge its all in sacred geometry its absolutely amazing and yes man i totally think the ancient civilizations were muchmuchmuch more advanced then we give them credit for and i wouldn't doubt that they were star travelers leaving there marks on are planet with the great pyramids which can also be found on mars have you seen the work of richard hoagland or William henry also sacred geometry?

Temples, Pyramids, Secret Orders, Sounds like a conspiricy! LOL, You rais a couple of intresting points her with buildings an such. Although I do not believe aBuilding of any type has a soul or a spirit, I do beleive however that certain building were erected to house or even draw spirits to them. Isn't that the reason some timples were created? to draw the spirit of a Diety? The pyramids also as you say were a tomb, but more than that they were a portal to propell the inhbiting Pharoh to the after life, so again a buliding/structure to house a spirit or soul. The pyramids were created by master stone builders and were enginered by masters of mathmatical and astrological sciences, and must have know of the concept of pi to align so perfectly these structures. I speak manly of the great pyramids of Giza, who the Pharoh Kufu began. The actual word for the pyramids is "Mer" Pyramid is from the Greek word pyramis, meaning "wheat cake" Which was used by the the Greeks to discribe Egyption buildings becouse they reminded them of pointy top wheat cakes. And the free masons do state that they have secret knowlege of the Egyptians as well as other near and far eastern cultures like the Persians, Babylonians and from the Asian Empiers. They chose as their symbol mason or the tools of stone masons to be persice. They do not say they are a secret socioty, they claim to be an esoteric sociaty, Claiming that they alone have secret knowlege of the universe and the Supream Being wich they do sometimes call "The Grand Architect" This knowlege is only known to a few "inlightened people" and members are asigned ranks and perform rituals or rites to be advanced to the next level of inlightenment. The secrets are kept and learned by alegory, That is languge used to convey a mesage other than the literal, useing representitve art, Metaphores, sculptures and other art forms as well as reteric speach and other forms of mimitic. It is a system of morality veiled in aligory and illistrated in symbolism. They are beleived to first come about around the 1600's But they say they go all the way back to the building of Solomons Temple. many also beleive they are what was left of the Knites Templer after they disbandded and flead for their lives When they were accused od all sorts of evil doings including Godess worship. They also funded the building of some of europes middle ages greatest cathedrals. Feng Shui is to my belefe the yen yang of healthy and happy habitats. The cosmic vibrations of certain meterials and shapes can couse harmonious or dis harmany to a locality. Yin and yang must become centered and one not upset or overdo the other for harmany. Achieving harmany in a dwelling therefor acts as a catalist in our own lives as they influince our Ki, or soul, here again we have a building/structure inviting certain sprite to dwell within. Buildings themself can be metaphicsical in nature ,speaking to geomitry, a magikal Geomitry that stricks a chord with the cosmos, going back to Pyramids. The Eygiptian seems to be more luner and astrological in nature, its angle aligned to the moons riseing and positioned in mimic of Orion, and all the pyrmids of egypt mimic constalations. I like the Myan Pyramids though becouse they go a step closer and incluse Solor As well. Some buildings are ment to porpell our minds past the obvious beauty and conjor images of lost knowlege back to us. I have thoroly enjoyed this topic MissaK, peace Brother
