Chile have banned six players for 20 internationals each because of internal indiscipline during the Copa America.
Coach Nelson Acosta resigned following theirs 6-1 quarter-final loss to Brazil.
The incident, which the federation refused to discuss, happened before that game and captains Jorge Valdivia is one of the players to be rebuked. Full-backs Alvaro Ormeno and Rodrigo Tello have also been blacklisted along with defenders Jorge Vargas and Pablo Contreras and Striker Reinaldo Navia.
None of the dozen will receive their tournament bonuses and all have been banned from captaining their country for life. Ormeno protested his innocence afther the squad were insulted on their return to santiago from Venezuela.
"I can assure you that I didn't do anything" he said. "I didn't drink, I didn't leave the hotel".
