What do you think about Iran?

I really love to travel. I am an independent sort of traveler rather than an organized tourist. Visiting a country like Iran would appeal to see. I am sure it has many stunning looking mosques like the very beautiful Dome of the Rock that I saw in Jerusalem. I am sure is a very strict Islamic sort of country. I imagine the all women dress up so only their eyes show. It might be similar to the style of dress I saw in Jordan. I have read that the train system is very good. I dream of traveling from London to Kathmandu overland and stopping over en route in Iran. I wonder how easy it is to get a visa. I am British.
