Away for a week.

Today is my last day at work before I have a week or so of leave. Don't get too envious, I'm staying home and eventually making a start on landscaping my garden. It's rare I get the chance to Mylot from home, so I'll be missing all you guys. I'd like all my great friends to reply to this toward the end of next week to let me catch up with what you've all been doing and to let me know of any discussions you recommend. I may be typing rather slowly when I return as I've estimated that I'll have about 15 tonnes of soil and building materials to move / use single-handedly, so I'll have blisters on my blisters!! lol I promise lots of lovely piccies of before and after (well - during actually, it's a big project). Take care all. XX

I hope you find some quality time to get in some TLC my friend as well as a lie in at least once, you deserve it. Make sure you take a photo of your garden BEFORE as well as after so you can compare and don't work too hard and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Sounds like heavy, hard work, oh and wear gloves! Listen to Wolfie ;0)

I did listen to wolfie! Wearing heavy gloves saved my fingers several times and I can't believe my complete lack of blisters! Not finished yet though...

I envy you rhinoboy, I am a very keen gardener and there is nothing in this world more therapeutic and fulfilling, for me, than gardening. Especially if you've planted something, to see it come alive and grow is a wonderful feeling. I wish you good luck in your venture and 10 green fingers! I am a picture freak, and looking forward to your photographs.

I'm looking forward to to the planting stage, the whole place is currently one big mess! I took some 'during' shots as I was a little too eager to get started and didn't remember to take 'before' ones. I have some older ones that will suffice though. I'll post them as soon as I can.

Thanks, flower. I'll be digging over the weekend and pouring concrete on Tuesday if all goes to plan. I didn't factor in 'going off' time for the concrete, so I probably won't be able to start building until at least next weekend. That leaves a few days to spend with my girls (and get a day's fishing in too!). Anyway, you weren't supposed to respond yet!!! I want everyone to update me with all the best stuff at the end of the week so I can catch up quickly when I get back! Miss you too hun. x

Sorry I have to reply now or it will be buried in the email folder. I am glad you will get the week to haul, dig and reform the spot of land you have. Lifting, bendin and getting dirty will be a nice change and so rewarding. Wish the kids and I could come and help. That is our kind of thing. We live in the city now and so you would be a working vacation Hope you have some time to make a few memories with your family while you are at it. Be careful and work smart.

I did take a few days out to be with my girls, and boy did I need them! lol I ride a desk for a living so all this physical stuff is rare for me. It felt good to get stuck into it and challenge myself though.

Hi Rhino. I've only just found this discussion and it is two weeks old, so I guess your landscaping is complete and we are all looking forward to some piccies. I hope it wasn't too, too, too much hard work, but was very rewarding when completed. No doubt you told your little angel all about your hard work as a bed time story. 15 tonnes! You deserve a medal!

I did surprise myself, especially since I ride a desk and crunch numbers for work and sit on my butt as much as possible for leisure. I think it does you good to push yourself occasionally. *Slapped wrist* I still haven't moved any pictures from my camera yet, but the project is far from finished as there is plenty of building and paving to do yet. The place looks a dump at the moment.

Oh I love it when people do work like that themselves. I'm glad you are going to post the before and after pics too. Make sure your take some of your hands so you know that all the work was done lovingly by your own hands. It is wonderful to look back on and knowing you've done a job well and especially knowing you've cut out the middle man and achieved it all yourself. It really sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you though. Make sure you drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

I will do, thanks for the enouragement! I'm just hoping the weather stays dry - we've had floods across the UK and although I wouldn't be affected by flooding, it could make things a whole lot harder. I'll certainly be hydrated though - I'll look up with my mouth open lol.
