Who does the TV set belong to?

Who is the owner of this TV? - At your home, who does the TV set belong to?

Most of us have a TV set at home. I am sure some have more than one set at home, perhaps one in each room. My question is not how many TV sets you have at home. My question is : Who does the TV set in your home belong to? At home, I have only one TV set in the hall. I paid for it, but the TV set does not belong to me. Sad to say, I take control only after midnight, that is when everyone is asleep. LOL. On weekdays, it belongs to my mother. On weekends, it belongs to my nephews and nieces. They hog the remote control, they watch cartoon programs. The adults have no chance to watch any program. Is this the same at your home? Are you the one who controls the remote and have full custody of the TV set? Or is it the kids? Your tenants? Or ? At your home, who does the TV set belong to? Kindly share :)

This is a very HOT topic in our house, we only have 5 television sets, yet everyone wants to watch the living (big screen) television, during the day, it belongs to my girls, but sometimes I am able to hold on to it for a bit, but always feel so guilty that I will go to my office to watch local channels since we only have 2 televisions that get satellite. In the evenings the big screen is my boyfriend's he watches baseball and if baseball is not on, it usually will go to our oldest son who is a channel flipper, I can't stand to watch television with him cause he never stays on the same channel for anything. The weekends I take over the big screen to watch all my DIY channels and am usually quite adament for anybody that watch to change it, except for my boyfriend, I feel this is my time and I will even give him flak about that I don't get to watch my shows and sometimes we all don't want to watch BASEBALL ...

It is understandable why everyone want the big screen :P I presume the other TV sets are meant to help in the first place?

Nice question. In my apartment, i used to live with 6 other people, and we split the cost of buying the TV set, so 7 people actually owns the TV that we use. Right now only 2 of us live in the same house, and whoever opened it has the right to the remote.

That's nice to have people sharing the cost and they do not use it.

At home, we only have one tv set, we have designated an area in the house that we called tv room, we only have one tv. and anybody can watch there, my household is fortunate to have adults who love to watch the same kind of tv series, and if its the kids who loves watching cartoons, they have their own viewing time... I limit my kid in watching television at her very young age..

Who gets the TV if the kids viewing time crashes with the tv series that the adults are following?

I think everyone will have their fixed timings. Just need to work out your own arrangements. Either that or get your own set.

Hi whyaskq, We have only one TV set. We are only 3 people. That is myself, my wife and my daughter. Myself and my daughter go to office every day. My wife stays in home. She likes to watch certain channels only that in the morning and evening. My daughter used to watch TV during her school days. Now a day she does not watch. I do not watch because I have other work to do. Among us anybody is watching the TV, we used to watch the same channel. Therefore there is no problem regarding TV watching.

We do not have the problem as we watch mostly the same channel most of the time until the kids step in. LOL.

we have 5 tv's in our home with 4 people. the largest one in the living room is mine. the kids know to move out when i want to watch. my husband claims the one in our bedroom and the kids fight over the other 3 depending on what room they want to be in. i would say that everyone in my house would agree that the tv's belong to me. if it was up to my husband we might not even have one at all!

Nope, it's not usually me.. if anyone else is home besides me, they have control of the living room (cause I let them) so this includes the tv and computer.. tho if it's my granddaughter, she gets one or the other.. not both.. and when hubby's home he owns the tv and remote, but I own the computer!:)

The tv definitely isn't mine. I can pretty much go without television and it's reality-show wasteland. If I do watch it, it's like whyaskq said, after midnight. Force

The tv is mine, but I hate tv. I'd rather throw the thing out the window than sit like a couch potato watching it all day. My son loves tv. He can have it. It's so old I couldn't even sell it for 50 cents at a garage sale.

We have one tv in the lounge. It belongs to my son, even tho he wasn't born when we got it. He knows how to turn it on, off and turn on his dvds when he wants to watch them so even when we think we're going to watch something for ourselves, he usually comes in and changes it to what he wants.

Well, here we have about 4 TVs, but on my room I have to share it with my brother. It's no problem because he doesn't watch much TV, but in fact he loves hearing to music. So it kinds of troubles me. But it's fine. I usually watch a few programs, and my brother knows the time of them, so he usually lower his volume a little when I want to watch something. Well, you could say the TV is mine, because he watches less TV than me. XD

I have a tv in my bedroom. For the most part I'm the only one who watches it so I would have to say it belongs to me. Each member of my family has their own tv.

Ok....I'll admit it....I'm the selfish one when it comes to the tv set. I'm lucky during the day though, because hubby is at work, and my daughter is hooked on the same shows that I love. In the evenings, before I go to bed, I usually pick the programs unless there's nothing on that I like. Then hubby gets the remote. LOL On the weekends he is the tv hog though, which means I have to suffer through umpteen games of golf! UGH! But now if my races are on, then it's ok. LOL

I have two sets of TV at my home. I removed the TV at my bedroom months ago as my girls tend to watch their favorite shows when it was supposed to be their sleeping time. I don't have much time to watch TV now. I can only tuned in an hour every morning to check some current news. Otherwise, the TV is lorded by my girls.

We were fortunate enough to get two second hand tvs for free (one we had to fix first for it to work but it was worth it). My hubby usually owns the one in the lounge and my son owns the one in our bedroom. I don't watch as much tv as I use to and when I do, its when the other two are fast asleep. Its good to have two so if you can't watch one, you can watch the other.
