Whenever I see a new member who has responded to a discussion that I have started...I always make a special point to welcome them....I think that it helps to make them feel comfortable....
Do you welcome new members?? Am I alone in this habit??
If you do not welcome them....why not?
Where you welcomed when you began here???
I was by several people...and we are good friends now...

That is why I do welcome new members...I would probably never have stayed and learned how much I love myLot if I had not been made to feel welcome....
I am sorry that you were not made to feel that way too....
I think that it is an important part of being one of the more senior members to make them want to stay...while not everyone feels that way...I will continue to do so.....
Thanks so much for sharing with me, my friend.....

Vani....I feel the same way....I love this community and so many of it's members are very deat to my heart...that happened because a few people took the time to type a few extra words of welcome and helped me to feel at ease....
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me...

I do try to whenever possible, sometimes when you get a huge amount of responses to your discussions it's not always possible, but certainly I have in the past said 'welcome to Mylot' thankfully now that we have notifies when a response we have made has been responded to so at least they will know they have got the welcome message!

I agree that the comment notifier has been a wonderful addition to myLot....I remember when I first became a member that I would flip back and forth between the discussions that I had responded to in great anticipation of any comment made by the OP...seems like a lifetime ago now....LOL
I know that you try to make folks feel comfortable, my dearest Wolfie....
Thanks, my friend....

Hi Tinamwhite,
I think it is a good advice. Yes, you're right. A new member may feel a bit uncomfortable or overwhelmed. I remember when I was a new member :-) I hope you have a great weekend!

I remember when I first joined...I was timid and shy...well, we all know that has changed....LOL
I do feel that it is important to make others feel welcome...this community is held together by us...it's members...so we want the atmosphere to be one built on mutual respect and helpfulness...Right???...at least that is how I feel...
I know that I have only been here for about 5 months..but that is long enough to feel at ease and I want others to feel that way too....
Thanks so much for sharing with me, my friend....I hope that you have a wonderful weekends as well....

We became members about the same time...although I see that you are more active than I am....LOL
I think that it is a matter of common courtesy and should be practiced by all of us....I know there are a few members who would disagree with me though....
Thanks, Aprilgrl for sharing with me....

I too like to welcome the new members, this is a very good practice for all of us to do here on Mylot. This way they will feel at home and at ease. When a new member is new to this site they are looking for friendly peoplesuch as yourself, because they are trying to figure out what they are supposed to do on this site.

Sunkissed, thanks so very much for the kind words...I am flattered....
I think that it is extremely important for us as well....I do not think that I would have stayed if it had not been for the people who made me feel at ease here when I first began.....
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me.....

I do not look alot at the numbers that people have next to them so i think I am one of those that sometimes miss this. However if I do see it I try to welcome them.
When I first joined I do not think that I was welcomed - atleast not what I can remember =)

I think that one of the reasons that I tend to notice the numbers is that many people....like yourself have numbers in their name...
I do try not to miss anyone who is under 100 posts...I am sure that I have missed a few but it was not intentional...
Thanks, my friend.....

i use to do that all the time. i don't know why i stopped. well i think i stopped because then they wanted to be friends and then i would never hear from them again. so then i have to go to my friends list and clean out all of those people that don't love mylot like we do. but i think i am going to go back to saying hi to people

I think that it is the right thing to do...at least for me..it is my personality to try to make people feel at ease....
I was made to feel welcome when I began here and it meant alot to me...I can not imagine me staying and loving myLot as I do if this had not been the case....
Thanks, my friend...

Hello tinam. I always give all the new members a warm welcome. I once was a newbie too and knew what it felt like to be welcome by senior members. I have since went to to become their close friends. Our friendships went beyond mylot. We always exchanged emails and chatted regularly.
I even accept all newbies who wish to be my friends.I think it's only proper that we give this newbies the moral support they needed.

I read a little about your recent difficulties, my friend...while I did not fully understand what happened....I am so happy to see you are back....I myself have been through quite a lot during the past two weeks....
I knew that you felt that way, my friend....I was one of the newbies that you welcomed when I became a member...I appreciated it then and always treat the new members the same way...I accept them as friends and am always willing to offer help when needed....
Thanks for sharing with me, my friend....

I also think that we should go out of our way to make new members feel welcome...all of us was new here once...and while not everyone shares my opinion...it will not change...
Thanks, sweetie....I appreciate your thoughts...

I don’t believe I was welcomed because I posted a topic when I first started but never posted that I was a newbie. I believe it was when posted a discussion that I wanted to quit Mylot after posting 15 discussions with no responses that I was welcomed and overwhelmed with support by many members….lol..
I do I often check the new member discussion daily but to be honest sometimes when I see that they have received more than thirty welcome responses, I just skip it an seek out another one.
Nonetheless, I do make a point of welcoming at least three new members a day!

I completely agree with you, Scarlet...I think that we have a certain duty to make new members feel welcome and that they have a support system for any difficulties that they are experiencing here....
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me...

I do if I know that they are new Members you can never go by the Numbers by their Names as some People do a few Responses and then disappear for a while and come back 2 or 3 Months later but if I know it is a new Member then yes I will
Hugs to you
