I think that the term rich regarding God does not refer to financial riches, but rather rich in love, in kindness, in mercy and so on. Regarding poor christians, I think there are 2 main reasons for that; through being poor the Lord will teach christians many things (at least He thought me incredibly lot when I had close to nothing), also I think for some people riches would distract them from God and thats why He won't give them riches. However riches in itself is not evil, the love of it is (note that Old Testament patriarchs and godly kings such as Abraham, King David and King Solomon where extremely wealthy). The problem with riches is that most majority of the rich people tend to put their trust of security in money, and not on God. This is because they don't realize how fast vast amounts of money can disappear (The Lord thought me that the hard way). However God keeps His word when He says: "I will never leave you, nor forsake you". It helps me a lot when things are collapsing over my head to think that God has created the world just by saying a few words; that powerful He is.
I think wisdom is relative: Of course you can not be wiser than God (you and I also will not be able to know how to create a brand new world out of nothing).
I think that true wisdom is not granted to anyone: Solomon says: "With much wisdom comes much sorrow, the more understanding the more grief". Jesus when he ascended into Heaven he said to his desciples:"I have many more things to say, but you cannot bear it yet". So God gives you a measure of wisdom that you can bear, however search for the truth, and the "truth will set you free".

God owns the earth and everything in it so I guess he would be rich in that sense. God is also rich in mercy and kindness and goodness. I don't believe in the idea that if you're a true christian you should be wealthy. Earthly treasures pass away but the christian needs to obtain heavenly tresures that will never pass away. As far as unbelievers who are rich, the Bible says that they have their reward here on earth so it's not a thing for christians to covet since their reward is in heaven.
As far as wisdom, God will grant wisdom to those true christians who will ask. Obedience and a desire to use the wisdom for glorifying God must be there. Worldly wisdom is different in that is seeks to glorify the man. The Bible calls the wisdom of this world foolishness and it places no academic requirements on spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Some people who believe may seem like fools to the world but still can accomplish all that God needs them to by the ability he has given them.
Of course you always have people acting stupid regardless of religious preference.

God owns everything in the world that's why He doesn't need anybody offering to Him any material thing. God has given Solomon the wealth that has never been or will ever be in the world and that's a proof that God can give whatever to His children. But He does not do that to all Christians for obvious reasons. He says Man shall live not by bread alone but man shall live on every word coming out of the mouth of God.

God is the Creator of the whole universe, so He owns everything in it-- that's His richness (materially speaking), also God is a spirit, Who rules the spirit world (spiritually speaking). The materialistic world is always in opposite of the spiritual world. So in order for you to know more God you have to be spiritual rather than materialistic. If you are with God, you don't have to worry if you're poor because His own richness will be yours-- this is called spiritual richness (a package of mental, physical, emotional, social and material). But He always check our attitudes towards materialism.

it would depend on what you think is being "rich". i dont think if God is a rich God then that would mean he has a great car or a big house.. those are just materials things.. for me personally, some people may be rich and some people are poor but it has nothing to do with religion.. and human as we are we make mistakes.. and we will always do.. that is why we were given a freedom to think for ourselves and not just like any other animal in this world... we have the power to choose right over wrong and sometimes clearly we choose the wrong way... :)

Many people have the idea that being poor is somehow more "godly", then being rich. Often religious people are poor for that very reason. There is no truth to this, of course, as many devout people are very rich. We think its fine for movie stars and sports figures to make millions, but teachers and ministers of religion are often expected to live on little because they are doing "good". Go figure.
