Strawberries are easy to grow. Get small plants at a nursery and plant them in regular soil with some fertilizer. They grow well pretty much everywhere, at least in the spring and summer. Water them a couple of times per week once established. In tropical and subtropical climates they will bear about 3 years. Then replant. In cold areas, you probably have to replant each year. There's a groundcover strawberry that doesn't bear fruit. Don't get that one.
