For me, the difference between a notebook and a laptop computer depends on who makes it. Some Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) call their mobile computers "laptops" and some call them "notebooks". The terms are often used interchangeably. While most tech companies say, laptop computers are somewhat larger than notebooks and will accommodate a built-in disk drive unit and; optionally, a floppy drive unit. That is, a CD ROM drive is either built into the unit or the unit has a built-in bay that will accommodate a removable CD ROM drive. On the otehr hand, notebook computers will allow you to attach, via cable, a CD ROM drive. Since the drive is not built into the unit, notebooks are smaller and lighter than laptops. Hence, a notebook is an ultra small laptop. Another way to look at it is a notebook is about the size (or a little larger than) of a real [binder] notebook.

I think they are the same in a way that a notebook is a laptop but a laptop can never be i mean can be a notebook if it is really user friendly or use as in in school or work, a notebook is a laptop if taken it in school or use it just like a notebook, get it!?, if you always use it in school or writing or in business like notebook - scheduler, notes or even discussion, a laptop can be a notebook in the sense that you use it as a notebook but sometime or some people just use laptop for playing, etc, It is just my opinion, maybe it's like that, thanks,...
