let's say you are walking down the street and someone hands you a twenty dollar bill and says you can use it for what ever you want, no need to repay it. What would you spend it on?

Well, I would probably get my boyfriend and go out to eat somewhere. We don't often get to do that so it would be nice. Of course I would be wondering why someone would give me $20

I had a winning lottery number about a year ago and it paid out a lot more than I thought it would. When I cashed it in I was walking out of the store and there was a woman there with three kids. They wanted ice cream but she said she only had enough for two ice cream cones so it wouldn't be fair to leave one kid out. One of them said, "I will share one with Lucy" (I am assuming her sister). That almost broke my heart so I reached in my pocket and pulled out a twenty dollar bill and handed it to her. I told her to get them whatever they wanted and walked away. I never saw her again, never started up a conversation but I did have a huge smile on my face the rest of the day.

Nothing...I'd put it in my wallet for a time when I needed it OR I'd put it into my "I need to travel" fund LOL

Come on, that's no fun! I should have put a condition in the post that you had to spend it on something within 24 hours. Grrr, if only we could edit posts!

I'd probably go buy my husband and I a yummy cup of a coffee from one of the coffee stands and then just stash the rest for later for whatever might come up.

I'm not very trusting, so I'd probably suspect it was counterfeit or something and would want it inspected before I tried to spend it.

I have it checked first if it's a counterfeit money or not before spending it. If it's a real $20 I would have used it to buy some grocery items for the house like few kilos of rice, milk, fruits, chicken and meat.

could there be a definative answer to that is the real question. Circumstances would play a large role in were it winds up. IM sure that goes for everyone. One would say as they are at home on there computer oh i would buy this or that, but thats at home in comfort, like, were just walking down the street, so i would say probably the most applicable thing, maybe a drink and what not, or if im heading to my car when i recive it, only to get in an notice i have a half tank of gas.. hmm, guess were that 20$ is goin? but what if the tanks full? what if im headin to the mall for a cd, will i pick up the other cd ive been wanting to? or that shirt that ive been checkin out? Hey its free money right? why not get something i kinda wanted but didnt want to blow my hard earned 20$ why not use this free 20$? I would bet a paycheck that none of these answers given for this post would be the actaul item bought if this total random curcumstance ever arose in ones life. Spontinaity would overtake all logic i would bet. Great post though, makes one wonder.

That is an interesting question. I think I would be suprised but thank the person. I might even hug them as way of thanks. If I had nothing I needed it for I might use $5.00 or so to get my son a treat but then I would most definitely take the change $15.00 and pass that on to a stranger. I am a complete follower of the "pay it forward" philosphy. I like to make people smile and I think that if the people on this earth were just a little nicer then it would be an amazing place to live.

I wish that would happen on a daily basis! It's usually the other way around; which is to say, I get hit up for spare change from a homeless person almost daily. If some kind stranger donated $20 to me today here is how I would spend it: I would spend $10 of it at my favorite eatery, "The Souplantion." It's a WONDERFUL soup and salad bar restaurant that I frequent. They serve up a HUGE variety of fresh salads, soups and desserts. But I digress. I would take the rest of the money and "pay it forward" by giving it to one of the aforementioned homeless persons.
