We just went to visit a cave today. It was a lot of fun getting to walk around and see the different formations and here stories about the cave. I learned that just in the county I live in that there are 171 caves. And in my state there are almost 10,000 reported caves. The geologist I was talking to today said that our state is the state with the most caves. I knew we had a lot here but I didn't realize there were that many. The part of the cave we were in was just the part they have open to the public and have made it wheel chair accessible. But there are other parts where they will do private guided tours where you actually have to crawl through parts. I'm really wanting to do this. I went spelunking several years ago and had a blast so I am looking forward to doing it again. I just love getting back there and seeing these natural formations that are thousands years old.
Have you ever been in a cave? If so, did you enjoy it? Would you ever venture to go deep into a cave?

When I was a teenager, I worked for Endless Caverns as a tour guide. I absolutely LOVED my job. And to this day I am sure I could still tell you about the cave and the different rooms and different formations. I also worked for Skyline Caverns and Grand Caverns during 2 different summers. I have also visited the world famous Luray Caverns (and I currently live within an hour of both Skyline Caverns and Luray Caverns) and also Shenandoah Caverns and Natural Bridge Caverns. I love the anthodite formations as well as the flow stone. Absolutely beatiful to look at them. There are quite a few commercial caves that I would love to visit however not sure what I would think about wild caving--closed in places tend to unnerve me.

Hi, cynddvs. I hope that you enjoy this voyage to the cave. I have never been in an cave before. If I ever go, it would be with someone that I can trust. I would rather walk through a cave during an tour with a group of people. To go alone all by myself. Would be very scary, especially if I have to crawl into tight spaces.

I love caves, and I go to see them whenever I get the chance. The most recent visit, I saw some caves north of Columbus where Wyandot Indians once lived. Another time, I was in a cave in West Virginia that was supposed to be one of the biggest caves in the U.S. I don't think I would like crawling through the tight places, I'd be afraid of getting stuck.

Hi cynddvs What state are you in? I am originally from Missouri and we have tons of Caves too.
My favorite cave in Missouri was Meramac Caverns.
Billy the kid and his gang were reported to hide out in there.
there is a the river that runs into the river and the tale is that in the water there was a place the guys could go and come up out of the water hiding out in the cave.
It was many years later before officials found out about the hole to the entrance of the cave so many years ago.
I have also been to Bridal Cave which part of the cave you actually rode through.
Now I am in Florida and I took my son to Florida Caverns and State Park.
In some places in this cave you actually have to crawl through the space was so small.
I know Tennessee has a lot of caves too.
