Okay, I am new here to MyLot. But, I just could not stomach anymore of the posts that I see of people on here who are clueless about the internet. Along with some of those who are pushing their various offers like snake oil salesmen. What does it take to make money online? I will give you some pointers on here free of charge. I might include several links and I might not, but if I do, they may have my affiliate code in this or they may not. Just depends on how I feel. Well, making money on the internet is really not as simple as it seems. That is the first thing that I want you to understand. With that being said, all of you who were hoping to just click on your computer once and let it go on autopilot for the rest of your life, can get back to work now and put away such silly notions. Internet Marketing requires that you become a master of a few things, one of which is creativity. Most of these cookie cutter programs that people offer you are making only the promoter money. These people in my opinion are nothing more than the worst of the worst. They are capitalizing on your desire and desperation to make money. When people sense that you are vulnerable, watch out! You will need to learn a few of the basics. And here are several of them. Coding: HTML, php, scraping, etc building a campaign, using adwords, adsense, adbrite, etc to make money. affiliate networks: using these networks as a way of creating income through the offers they provide. This is big boy work, so enter if you dare. Some of the companies are Azoogle MaxBounty Comission Junction, etc Have an idea and develop it! This is the biggest one. Take an idea and work on it. Here is a simple one that will help you if you are willing. Screensavers Go this this site, read the post and take advantage of this guys knowledge. And no it is not my site. I am using it and I am making an extra $20 bucks a day. Again, simple but requires work. Heres the site: http://www.bluehatseo.com/how-to-make-a-100-per-day/ You can steal someone else idea and modify it, but doing the cookie cutter thing in my opinion doesn't work well. Also, you have to become a master of sales copy. There are those in this industry who have perfected ad copy to a new art and can see ice to an Eskimo. Become that person. Learn SEO. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION This is what will assist you in getting found by visitors, the life blood of Internet Marketing. Its like the bear in the woods, if there is no one around to hear it roar, is it really there? Learn how to make your sites seo friendly. Here are a few sites that you can develop an understanding of internet marketing. www.wickedfire.com www.seobook.com www.bluehatseo.com www.carlocab.com www.w3schools.com www.earnersblog.com www.problogger.net This should get you started on your journey. If you truly are interested in making money online, start with these and add to it. Learn a bit. As a piece of advice, if you go to wickedfire.com, you had better do your searching for the answers first or just lurk for a while before you ask a question. Because if you do, you're gonna catch the worst flaming and it won't be pretty. Finally, to make some real money online, it will take some kind of money. Webhosting cost money, domain names and PPC campaigns. Hope you do well.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I just wanted to add some things to your list I felt were lacking. 1. Find your niche. This consists of finding something you do well and developing it into a business idea. You don't have to reinvent the mouse trap, but you do have to re-evaluate your own mindset. What do you like to do? What do you do well? Who else is doing the same thing? HOw can you make your talent unique? The last question, by far, is the most important. You are competing with literally huindreds of thousands of people with a similar idea to yours, so you have to do your research and discover ways to make yourself stand out. 2 Brand yourself. You have to sell yourself before you will ever sell your product or service. You have to build relationships and become a household name. This is difficult at best. An example of "branding" Is McDonald's. This worlwide company is not the first to sell hamburgers and french fries. They certainly won't be the last. But they have made themselves a household name all over the world. There are very few places without a McDonald's. How did they get so big? They took the time to develop a relationship with their key markets. 3 Don't quit your day job. When you finally decide to take the plunge and begin your long journey to making money online, you are going to need an additional income for at least the first 6 months to a year. If nothing else, you will have to cover your overhead costs, and you have to have a steady income to accomplish this. Don't quit your regular job until you have enough money in a separate account for your Internet business to operate for at least 6 months, preferrably a year. That means if your business overhead is $300 a month, you need at least $1800 set up in a bank account for this purpose. A good rule of thumb is to double this amount to make allowances for unforeseen emergencies and other unexpected costs. Following these guidelines along with the ones that my colleague above has stated in his post can mean the difference between success and failure. I'm sure that old buddy has some other suggestions for us. I'll check back to see what he has to say about it later.

You know what, I appreciate your efforts for trying to help people, but to be frank, I didn't read your complete discussion. Something that will help you attract more people to your posts (anywhere, in any forum or blog), is to keep it short, always. Even if it is totally full of sense, one just can't concentrate on the writing if it's too long. Short is easy and much more helpful. Thanks for the post, though.

I thank you for the critique. However, in this age of "microwave oven" attention span, I was directing this post to those who are really hungering for more and want to know what it really takes to be a success online. The way I figure it is if a person cannot focus for the span of 3-5 minutes to get some good information, how important or serious is making money to that person anyway?

Thank you. This is a really great article. I am, like many others, hoping to find some way of earning a living from working at home. I am a pensioner and anyone who has tried to live on the pension alone, will tell you that it is very difficult. It is only possible to have the bare necessaties and nothing left over for a holiday or even to but a few clothes etc. This is not a poor me email...this is the way life is, but I would like to do something about it. Luckily I am pretty computer literate so your advise seems very sound to me. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.

Okay, let me be as direct as possible. THIS IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY. I understand that its the thing to do on MyLot. However, are you able to add to a discussion without promoting your business? The intentions of this discussion was to give the readers a foundation by which to make an income. While the article that I posted in the original article may seem simplistic; picture a stay at home mom doing what was described in the article. Than begin to pull in $25 to $100 per day. You have really helped that person. Now, they have the confidence and belief to greater things. Well, forget about $100 per day. How about $10 per day? That's $300 per month! That's a car note. Or a night out for the family. So please stop spamming the heck out of everyone and provide something of substance. For those who are promoting a business opportunity, have you noticed that every other person has the "perfect business opportunity that is different?"
