I am following the thread by Mollywootis here with this discussion. Do you think, feel, believe even, that a child molester/pedophile *can be* rehabilitated?? If so, how?
I am deeply concerned about what is happening to our kids, right under noses. Why, in this day and age, do we still have such deep rooted taboo feelings about this topic?? Let's talk about it people!!!
I do not think they can be fixed. The problem lies within their brains. It is a propensity stronger than the human will. So then what do we do with them?
Myself, along with hundreds of other mothers, wrote a petition we hoped would bring awareness to the issue. This petition has been posted on most major sites and still has *almost 2000* signatures. Clearly we all care, but what do we DO to make changes??

Just this week alone we have two news stories of kids being abducted and murdered by known offenders. Why does this continue? And what can we do?
I am interested in ALL thoughts/opinions/feelings ideas for solutions...proposed legislation...all of it.
Let's talk and be real here.
Thank you all!!!

I have heard pedophiles speak and say that they will never stop thinking about children and trying to molest children. I don't think there is a cure for it, it is just what they like. It's like saying a man who is attracted to women can just stop being attracted to them. It doesn't work. It is part of their brain chemistry, like you said.
