My husband was digging up some flowers today and he came and said, "Honey, I just found a nest of RODENTS, do you want to come and see what they are and tell me what you want me to do with them?" Of course, being the animal lover I am, I ran out to see what in the world he had discovered!! OH MY!!!!! There were the 4 cutest, sweetest little newborn baby bunnies. We put the nest back where it was and the babies seemed very content as you will see in the picture. They are so cute!~!!!

Oh my gosh, that has got to be the biggest pick me up in the world! They are so sweet! Did you see if the mama came back? I'm afraid I would stakeout the nest just to watch what happened while the mama was gone and then when she returned. They are absolutely precious.
Outside my patio door the other day I saw a rabbit hopping around on grass right off my portion of the patio. Of course from inside the dogs went nuts, but I just loved watching it. It was so inquisitive!

I did sit in the living room by the window and watched for mama to come back, but finally I decided to look on the internet and learn about their 'family life'... I learned that the mama rabbit never sits on her newborns, in fact, she only comes in the middle of the night and feeds them one time, only once every 24 hours, and between midnight and 5AM. Funny thing huh? So, after I learned that, I decided to stop waiting for her to come!
They are so sweet, I held one for awhile and took pictures of it in my hand. Believe it or not, they actually HOP (looks more like a spasm) but I watched them in the nest and they hop or jump once in awhile. SOOOOO cute!!

I just finished a long day at the computer preparing a lecture that I have to give soon. I just popped onto myLot for a few minutes to relax before bed...and I saw this post by you! Oh my gosh, they are so very prescious. I really needed to see this after working all day on a depressing lecture about respiratory disorders! If I were there I'd probably sleep on the porch and watch them all night! I would love to be able to hold one as you did. I read in your reply to a poster above that you have quite a bit of wildlife at your place. * extreme pout* I want to come live with you..and see cute bunnies rather than coal trucks and coal dust!

Hey Crazynurse!!
Well, I am glad you popped into myLot! Not to change the subject, but you mentioned you had done a lecture about repiratory disorders. Are you familiar with Bronchiecstasis? My husband has it. If there are any tips, pointers, facts, etc that you could give us about how to help him with quality of life, that would be awesome!
The bunnies are doing excellent today. They've been fed, I could tell, their little tummies are full and warm and they are sleeping. SOOOOOOO cute.
I've taken some little movie clips with my camera, but obviously cannot post them here. If you would like to see the clip, and your computer can handle the large file, email me at Tolbert7@aol.com and ask me to send it to you. It's sooooo cute!
I will probably be doing a new clip each day as they grow.
Let me know.

After I saw your second picture and post, I had to look this one up. What a great find! I know you check on them constantly. They now have two mommies! I'll be looking forward to more pics. Thanks for sharing.

Aww--that is so precious...I was just going to ask about like hey where is the momma bunny but then read your response to AmbiePam...are you going to somehow look around midnight and on to see if the momma comes back? That was great you took that photo too...They weren't afraid of you?? Are their eyes still closed --like newborn kittens?

I was way too tired to stay up. But, the website said that if they've been fed, their bellies would be round, warm and they would be sleeping. I checked them as soon as I woke up this morning and they are all doing excellent!
I have a little movie clip but can't post it here. If you'd like to see it, email me at Tolbert7@aol.com and I'll send it to you.
I want to do a little clip each day as they grow.
It will be fun!

WOw, that's very nice of you to put them back into place, I love to see those or that particular scene too, how I wish, In our country you cannot find bunnies instead really rodents, rats or mice, and some snakes, Rabbit is rare or really uncommon, only in zoos or pet shops or pet owners, wow, I love to live in your house, lol I mean because it is close to nature, to forest, I have watched this on amazing videos that their house is near the forest and wild Racoons?? I just forget the name I think somewhat related to raccoons and really angry and will bite anyone, which lives in their house, but If their are bunnies then I will keep them since our house is near woods I suppose I will just let them stroll outside, oh gosh, want to see them in wild too, ^^

We love how our home has the woods behind us and in front of us. We have racoons, a fox, all kinds of birds, hawks, and huge groundhogs. We've had a lot of rabbits lately, including one that is only about a month old that we've been enjoying lately. But, this was quite a surprise to find a nest of four babies!! It was awesome!!

I just typed in "Care of Newborn Wild Bunnies" and found a great site that told about their nests and how often the mom comes etc. . . Today, they are so very sweet, warm, full bellies and content. The web site said that if mom had abandoned them, they would be crying and restless and their tummies would be flat. The site said to check if their bellies were round and full, and if they were warm and sleeping. All is fine in the bunny nursery today!! I was so happy when I could tell they had been fed this morning!

really, really, awesome, I just wish wild animals are still alive or still exist in our country since many poor thinking people are around, thanks, !!^^
It was really informing, to know that their mama just come to them at midnight, is that the specific species you searched on?, oh that's great, thanks^^

Awww, how sweet. We rescued an injured baby rabbit a couple of weeks ago. Some stray cats outside had it tossing it around for fun. My husband when out and caught it, and the next day I took it to the local wildlife rescue. He was cute as a button.

OH wow, from one animal lover to another, I just have to say that these are the cutest little things in the world. How sweet and innocent they look. I am glad you put the nest back and going to let them be. That is such a great thing to do. I would love to watch them grow up if you can take more pictures.

Hi Christina,
I am going to keep taking pictures daily, and also little movie clips so you can actually see them moving around if you want. Email me at Tolbert7@aol.com and I will send you the little clips I took yesterday. They are only a few seconds long. You will need to have cable internet though.
They are so very sweet.

They are so cute! I used to have bunnies as a pet and they were a lot of work, but they were such good pets and I enjoyed having them. I just hope their mom is still taking care of them. It would be really sad if she abandoned the nest after they were dug up...

I also had a pet rabbit. LOTS of work, lots of poop!! In fact, we named it POOPER!! It was a gray long hair angora rabbit. It was BEAUTIFUL, but MEAN!! It bit me all the time, my son hated it. Then, it chewed a big hole in the carpet under my bed and chewed my stereo speaker wires. . . it got sent to a farm to live after that. I cried like I had given up my best friend, but I couldn't keep him anymore.
Mama rabbit came and fed them last night, so all is well.
