For those of you truly interested in Thailand, you would know thailand blocked the video hosting site, youtube.com. It happened while I was studying abroad there, because someone posted images abusing images of the king. Now this is a very harshly punished crime in Thailand (not that the king really cares).
What are your thought and ideas on this?
I believe youtube should be back online soon however. Some laws were passed saying it was unlawful to block sites because of this. I hope for me and others in Thailand that this is what happens.

I am currently in Bangkok and can access YouTube. They just probably blocked it temporarily.

how was the images of the king abused? can you explain how? I also wonder if it's possible to ban youtube in thailand. Are you saying that you cannot access youtube now in the internet or are you saying that no one is allowed to watch youtube?

I remember when that happened. The YouTube service has been fully restored. But as always, the Thai government continues to scour the Internet for sites to censor.
It is illegal to do, say or promote anything that is potentially bad against the Royal family. Even discussions amongst friends are done around the table at a low level.
An older gentleman was arrested in Chiang Mai last year for defacing a poster of the King. The punishment has always been harsh on people like this.

I think everybody has the rights to host any type of video if it will abide the rules and regulation of hosting video material to this site. It should allow that site to online again. Really this is very wonderful site for hosting all types of videos.
