My life is being overtaken by clutter. Flat surface syndrome abounds in my home. Every spare inch of space in every room is filled with clutter. I need advice! My current plan is to set aside two boxes; one for garbage and one for yard sale, then start with one room and work my way through the house. Any other tips anyone can offer?

Sounds like a good start. I would also have containers for things like bills, pictures, crafts, and so forth and as you go thru the cleaning process put these things in the container and than when your done it will be all together and you can store them away and add to them when you get something new.

I have some containers - for example, I put a basket on one end table to hold magazines and they stay a lot neater now. But having containers for a lot of things is a great idea - thank you!

make sure you have a box ,and go through your throw away box and yard sale box to make sure you don't throw away something you really want to keep. And then make sure you have your best friend or a sister there to help you, or brother, they can make sure you throw out some gross thing you just love but have no use for at all.I have to help my mom go through her stuff 4 times a year, she is a super pack rat.And I have to hav emy dad standing by to help me.So we can sneak things out we know she'll say she wants to keep but we know for a fact she wont ever use or need ever.Plus by tubs to put stuff in and store away, and label each one for certain things.Good luck!

Those are very helpful tips and thank you very much! I hadn't thought about having someone else there with me to give an unbiased opinion. That is a great idea!

Some things you can't sell so why not donate.
