What do you do to help your cat stop mewing at night. She sleeps all day and then around 3 am she is ready to play. We close our bedroom door and she just stands by it and mewow until we open the door. We are loosing sleep and we don't want to get rid of her.

Some cats don't like the dark. Most times we have to keep our big male cat in the laundry room all night, with the light on, or else he meows all night. At times he is very quiet, until we are all asleep and then he starts making a big noise. And, that wakes up everyone in the house. It's not fun having to wake up at 2 AM, just because of a cat.
You might try putting your cat on your schedule and not allowing her to sleep during the day. If you're not home during the day you'll have to take special efforts to keep kitty from napping too often. You could leave the TV on really loud during the day so that the cat wouldn't be able to sleep. Or, you could call your home phone several times daily to wake her up.
And, don't forget to play with her before bedtime. That might tire her out sufficiently to allow you to sleep.
Some nights I'll allow our little female cat to stay in the bedroom with me. She's not a talker, but she can't stand to be away from her mommy. So, if she's not allowed to be in the bedroom, she makes a big noise.
Hope those ideas help.

We wake ours up during the day. For loves or to watch the birds outside or whatever. We also play with them. Run some of that little kitty energy off.
We leave our door open because the babies like to sleep with us.
If playing and waking her up don't work, maybe a squirt bottle by the bed? Or some rolled up socks? If you leave the door open and she still cries, give her a little squirt of water. If the door is shut, tell her to be quiet and throw a sock roll at the door so it makes noise.
I'm sorry you have this problem. I hope something you see in your answers will help you.
Good luck! :)
