I was raised on the King James Version, but right now, I read The Clear Word version as well as those that in everyday language. I will put up something on the Clear Word Bible nowhttp://www.amazon.com/Clear-Word-Pocket-Jack-Blanco/dp/0974889474/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7361061-3428849?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1184766832&sr=8-1

i would say I like the King James Version. I grew up with that Bible, so it is familiar to me. I understand it better than other bibles. I have had people say they don't understand it. Well those same people probably don't understand Shakespeare either.

I am over fifty, and I was raised on King James Version. I did massive amounts of memorization in that version, so if I remember a verse, I remember it in KJV. I also purely enjoy the artistry and poetry of that version of the Bible. I also like the fact that newer versions are more explanatory, so I read from more than one or two. The college classes I took used the American Standard Version, but that is old hat, now. My brother, who is a minister, gave me a New American Standard Study Bible, and that has a great many helps, and is easy to understand, especially with the foot notes and the extra teaching in it. For Bible Quizzing we used the New International Version, and I have a study Bible in that version as well. I guess you can see that for different purposes and applications I like different versions, but I believe that they all are the word of God.

I have the KJV and NIV, but would also like to have a Dakes Bible and the Complete Jewish Bible. Until then I use the Strong's Concordance to help me understand better.

I use NIV before i switched to KJV. My main concern then was the wordings..arcaic words specially. The all-too-common presumption about KJV is that it's harder to read, understand, and comprehend because of the wordings.
But i do testify that it's not true. I've been reading NIV for 4 years before KJV, one will just have to adjust then you'll be familiarized with the wording. KJV is my choice!

I prefer KJV now. I believe it's more reliable than newer versions. Plus it's been used longer than the "oldest" new versions in the market..i think around 300 years since Luther.
