Actually, I like it for both reasons that you mentioned. But, I also like it because I like Tony Shaloub. He's such a good actor, I've like him ever since he was on Wings. I used to love that show, and was heartbroken when it was canceled.

Yes, I'm another Wings fan too. That was another really great, funny show. I never would have imagined at that time that Tony Shaloub would become so popular.

I watch Monk because there's not another show that makes me Laugh at loud as much as this show. I love that my whole family will actually sit down together to watch this. My husband doesn't watch a lot regular TV. He watches news or sports shows, maybe the occasional movie, but he will actually make the time to sit down and watch this. I look forward to each and every episode.

It is great that the entire family can watch and enjoy something together, isn't it? There are so few shows that everyone can relate to and enjoy. I hope the show stays on for many more years.

I watch it for both reasons, as you said. I watch tons of crime shows like Law&Order:SVU, Without a Trace, and some CSI, but I adore Monk becuase I can relate to him so much. Unfortunately, my OCD is second probaly only to Mr. Monk himself. My family calls me "Monkette". I can control it if I really really need to, but that's a rare occassion these days, so they make fun of me, but it's cool.

I love Monk, I love his OCD, I love his sensitivity at least toward himself. He wants to have friends, he wants to be loved but his OCD makes it difficult.
He is great.

I love to watch Monk both because of his obsession-compulsiveness and because of his deductive skills. I am obsessive-compulsive, although thankfully not nearly as bad as Monk is, and I love to watch him and the way he acts. I guess maybe it makes me feel better about my own obsession-compulsiveness. I love how he can determine exactly whodunnit though, often with very little to go on. It is a very entertaining show, and one that I very much enjoy.

i watch it because it makes me laugh.he's so funny in his own way, specially with his phobias almost in everything.i don't think i ever met someone who have phobia like that, sometimes i think is there any like monk in this world?also the way he solves the problem make me amazed.he doesn't need heavy stuffs like in csi but he still can solve it!

I watch him because he's a good example of a disabled person who functions, having a job and so on.

I guess I fall into the 'little of both' category.
I don't have major OCD, but there are certain things I'm quirky about and they have to be just so, ya know?
I love it because its the perfect combination of humor/silliness coupled with real drama found in a 'normal' cop show. The folks that put Monk together really know how to blend the two.
