What a great post, weemam! I remember most of those things-and the music. I had just started high school and felt like I was on top of the world. I still get misty-eyed every time I hear "Theme From A Summer Place." My friends went to see that movie and it was so romantic. We were all American Bandstand fanatics. We practiced the latest dance moves every chance we got. I wa married by the time the assassainations started. It was a terrible period in our history. All the protests, civil unrest, etc. What a nice walk down Memory Lane. Thank you for it.

LOL, weemam. I believe I was still inside my mother's womb when all this crazed 60's became popular. I only heard of Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali. I'm actually grinning with the opening song. Very classical indeed. Life was simpler back then. There's not much pressures and the people were able to enjoy life's basic necessities with gusto. I remember I can stretched the allowance my mother handed to me to buy many things already. Imagine with a cent, you can buy 3 full snacks. "sigh"

This was great and thanks for sharing it with us! I really don't remember anything about the sixties as I was born in the late 60's. however, some of this made me think back to things that I have been told or seen since then.

Yes Sis I remember the 60's. I was born 1950 so the 60's were my teens. I still love the music from then. I was a hippy so concerned with the Viet Nam War and chemicals in everything. I did acid the first time in the 60's and do so many things I never should have. In 1966 I left home with a dufflebag ..I hitched and worked my way across the USA and in Canada and Mexico. When I wanted to see the world at 16 my parents let me go. My Da wanted me to learn from the world and see things. I could never let my kids go. I have a hard enough time when they are off after getting HS done. xooxoxoxooxoxxoxo

This a great site. I could remember the songs, though i was born on the 70's, because one FM radio station in our province always provide this kind of songs every sunday entitled "oldies but goodies". They are selected and entertaining cuts. It brings back the golden years.

Thanks for the link that was very fun. I was born in 1966 so I don't have any memory of the sixties but I have always had a fascination with them. I love the music and reading about history from that timeframe. I did an oral report on the 60's when I was in college.... a got an A+ Great Job!

I loved the 60's. I was a kid but my 2 older sisters were teenagers and listened to all the records, and the radio. My second oldest sister had a thing for the Beatles. I remember watching all the TV shows in black and white. I have a brother with downs syndrome and he loved Dragnet, American Bandstand and Lawrence Welk. I loved the beach movies with Annette and Franky. Oh, and we can't forget the Mickey Mouse Club!
