Do you wish you could go for a week or so without eating?

I heard Nicole Richie say in an interview, "I eat. I promise" and i thought to myself.. that's not even an option for me. it's like impossible. I can't go any length of time without eating. I don't want to be anorexic-looking like her but i wish I had that "problem" of not being able to gain weight etc. I wish i could go a week or so every now and then in order to get that body i want.:( Sorry*feeling down about myself* any of you ever wished you could be anorexic just long enough to lose some weight and then go back to normal?

Yes, I know this feeling. The worst that I have a picture in my mind about myself, and when I look into the mirror, I see somebody else. It took about 2 yrs to make a serious decision. I decided I won't give it up till I give it down.(it is a straight translation from Hungary, I mean: I wont give up till I loose that plus weight) So on 28th of June I began to work on it. I do not eat bread, potato, and sweetness. I eat a lot of vegetables, I drink a lot. And I eat pure ham. AND I make gym each day for a half hour. Not more only 30 minutes. That is not too much. I do more only if I have the mood :) But I do that little 30 minutes every day. (There was only one exception, when I worked till 8pm) Well my plus was only about 4-5 kilos. But all of it was fat. I lost only 1-2kilos maximum. But my figure is nicer :) I can notice the change of my body in my shorts, and panties :) Which were small, those are good now.(sorry my English is not too good) I just want to suggest to you :to do, and not only dream. It is on you. I know that the beginning is the most difficult. As soon as we change our lifestyle, it will be easier. I do not only want to loose some weight, but I want to be stronger, and healthier, not only for a while but for all the rest of my life. So I may not give it up anymore... I have to work for my figure, and health forever. The result may come slowly, but I know, what I do is good, so I do not care with the scale. Be strong you too.

It has never occur to me. I am fond of food and I am an expert in eating. lol. The longest I have tried without food is 18 hours, of which sleeping takes 7 hours. To go for a week without food, I guess I need to sleep for a week. I think I should be able to make it :p

I so get what you mean. I mean, I can go almost a day without eating, if I am that busy. Sometimes I've just got so much schoolwork that I only have dinner that day. But I really don't like not eating. First of all, it could lead to having an ulcer. There's no going back from that and it's very difficult. I also want to have that "not being able to gain weight" problem. I have two friends who are like that and I just really wish I could be like that. They can eat whatever they want and however much they want and still remain the same size. Ugh. Life is unfair like that. But yeah, there are times that I want to be anorexic so I can lose a certain amount of weight and then stop it. But I guess once you've started, it's only rehab that can help you go back to being normal... I don't want that...

I don't have any problem eating... I could eat a whole cow without gaining more than 1 kg... so I'm pretty thin... what I've observe around me it's that everyone wishes something that he doesn't want... and when he gets it he wants something else... for example, i wish i could be fatter but anything I do I can't... I'm not saying that we should not do anything to get where we want... I'm just saying that the human mind is tricky:)... I wish your dreams become reality;)

I couldn't go for a week without eating unless I was fasting but that's not for a week! It's only for a day and I break fast and I'll fast again the next day.Going without food for a week is possible but I wouldn't.Not for all the money in the world.I love food. And we need food to live but don't live for food;)

Yes, sometimes I wish I could just quit for a few days to really give me a boost in losing a few pounds. Lots of people do this with juice fasting and things like that. I have never done one before, but have thought about it. I definitely would not want to be as thin as Nicole R., but losing about 10 pounds would be great!

If there were some magic pill i could taker every day that gave me all the nutrients i needed and made me feel full, but would not make me gain weight, i would take it rather than eat. Food just is not important to me. Sure, on.ce in awhile i like to experoience flavors, but you dont need to eat much to get flavor..

Heather, sounds like you need a new hobby, an active one that wont allow you to eat! I had that same problem once, emotions that was, ate all the time. When I ran out of clothes to wear because I couldnt get my fat a-- in them, I knew it was time for a change!! Now I eat when hungry.

if you call that anorexic..yeah,for a week or two? why not? I wish I could but then of course I would love to go back to normal and eat what i want and then not get fat again..How I really wish, but like you.I need food, I cannot go on a day without it, and here in my country,we loved rice so much.I'm overweight too and I try to cut on my food intake but not to the point of starving my self.

I have wished I was a lot skinner than I am now (btw 40 pounds overweight here) but not to the point of anorexia or any eating disorder. I just couldn't do that to myself since I LOVE food so much LOL I just have to discipline myself and start to eat the right foods and not pig out so much. I have lost 12 pounds already but still have a long way to go. It's ok to feel a little down!!! we all go through that. Just need to pick yourself up again, find something you love to do and enjoy and discipline yourself to start cutting down on certain foods, smaller portions and eating healthy. Its hard work believe you me, nothing is easy in this world. If you change your mindset then you can achieve it without having to take drastic measures. Chin up my friend, we are here if you need to talk more. :)

I completely know what you are saying. I feel that way when I am down on myself at times too. I am too much of a chicken to actually ever wish I could be anorexic for a brief time. I would not want to suffer some of the other consequences that they suffer from the disease plus I would be afraid of not getting over it at some point. But I do know exactly where you are coming from.

When I was in my early 30's I became extremely anorexix, because I thought I just wouldn't eat at all. I literally didn't eat anything. I figured I would only do this for about a week or so. I just wanted to lose 20 pounds or so. Well this behavior went on for over a month. I wound up in the hospital with a tube down my nose. I had started having problems with my heart. I still do. I learned my lesson. If you are thinking about doing this, don't. It's not worth it.

Not eating would only be a temporary solution for your weight, and in the pricess you'd greatly risk you health. Eat a regular amount of food, but just make sure its healthy. You also need to exercise, eating healthy is only part of the puzzle.

I went from 175 lbs to 90 lbs when I was in my early 20's and some people thought I was anorexic. I was so obsessed with calorie counting. I gained it all back and then some over the years. I don't think though that I ever forgot to eat. When I was skinny I would eat, just very low calorie stuff.

I never have and never will wish to be anorexic, even if it is just to take off a few pounds before becoming 'normal' again. But as someone who found out in her early twenties that she was overweight because of a incurable disease, I DO wish I could lose weight like that. I DO wish I had the problem of having to eat to be healthy. Unfortunately, I don't. I have to work ten times as hard as a 'normal' person to lose any weight. But I completely understand where you are coming from. If I could go a week without eating and still have energy, I would. It is hard to have sympathy for people say they "have to make themselves eat."

I forget to eat. It's kind of ridiculous sounding but very true. I used to travel a lot and I'd be so busy doing stuff, having fun mostly, that I'd never even realize I hadn't eaten or anything. I mean, I eat everyday don't get me wrong, I have to eat breakfast otherwise I get sick. But lunch and dinner I'd totally forget about. I don't eat lunch either. I don't take breaks from work to eat anything, I bring snacks, nutri grain bars and 100 calorie packs, to eat if I get hungry but mostly I completely forget about hunger because I'm busy doing whatever. The most I ever eat is when I'm home doing nothing. Then I eat out of boredom. Luckily I'm not home more often than weekends and I normally never have much food to pig out on. Wishing to be anorexic is never good! You just need a little self control, some healthy foods and to keep busy!
