Do you still read like when you were a child? Or do you let your life be filled with television, computers and other forms of entertainment? REading is still a great way to experience adventure, share other people's lives or crawl into the imagination of the author. We can't expect our children to be literate if we don't set an example for them! Do you set a good example for your kids by reading?

My books are my friends, I love to read nd couldn't imagine a time when I wouldn't read books. I taught my son to read when he was very young and he had an extensive vocabulary by the time he started school and he loves to read too.

I read to my children too and by the time they reached kindergarden they could already read! I am so proud of you that you continue to read too..there is nothing like a good book to take you away from daily responsibilities into another world!

I have to say in all honesty that i read more now than i did when i was a child. I was an avid reader as a child and always seemed to have my nose stuck in a book, but i find reading much more enjoyable now that i'm an adult because i chose my own reading material. Its my escape route if life gets me down and a perfect way to relax.

It is said that learning is a continous process. Even if we finished a degree there is a need for us to read because it should not stop from there. Reading is one of the best way to learn and enjoy as well.
I'm a teacher and reading helps a lot in adding and exploring new learning and techniques in my choosen profession. Even now that I'm not teaching anymore because I'm working abroad. Still I continue to read for it is the best way I know to enhance my knowledge and skills as well. At the same time I enjoy when I read.

The greatest gift a child has is to learn to read. And the most important instrument for the future of our children, is a teacher! Kudos to you on your chosen profession and opening the world to children etc. by teaching them how to read!

I read a lot when I was a kid. Now, try as I may, it's not the same as before because I'm always full of thoughts about earning money online or something else. But I think one day soon I'll limit these activities and get back my reading passion.

Yes I still read. Reading is fun, exciting and you can learn so many things by just reading. I am a document analyst. It is a must for my job to read my documents to study. Well it is really great. But sad to say many teens now are lazy in reading. We can't expect a child to be literate if they dont't read. A parent must practice their kids to read and make it as a habit. Introduce reading as a fun habit, you can do this as a family or friends bonding.

YOu are so right. When they are little in school they have reading programs that reward them.....then as they reach in upper classes they basically have classes that require more studying like math that becomes more difficult. I am glad you have such a wonderful view on reading!

I read a lot more when I was a kid than I do now. I get distracted a lot easier these days than when I was a kid. Not because of computers or tv, but because of being an adult and having the responsibilities and such of life. Having to go to sleep and wake up early for work. Working all day and this and that. There was a long period of time when I didn't read but within the last year I've gotten back into reading and do so enjoy it. So I don't still read like I was a child, but I still read.

When our grandkids come to visit, we pull out the books and games. They want to use the pc or play video games and we limit the amount of time they spend doing this or not let them do it at all. We want them to realize that there is more to life than electronic pleasure.

I really can`t remember reading much as a child it was more when i was in school than anything .
I read to my children all the time when they were small .
Now i just find it hard to even find a book that i`m interested in.Something more important is just trying to find the time to sit and read ,there doesn`t seem much time left in my day to sit and when i usually do i think of something else that needs to be done.

I love to read. I read a great deal as a young person, and I still do. I'm not much for TV and video games. I like to read and write, and I like to hear the quiet or the sounds of the outdoors. I do not have kids, but if I did, I would strongly encourage them to read all they could and stay away from the video games.

I don't read nearly as much as I did when I was a child, but part of that is because my job now involves a lot of reading, and so the last thing I want to do when I get home is read more. So I do still read, I just don't read much for enjoyment.

I read more now than when I was a child..when I was growing up we didn't watch alot of TV..we had to go outside and play..my kids don't read much but I have tons of books for my grandsons and we read when they are here..They make up stories as they are looking at the books..I did read to my own kids but they are busy now to read..I prefer my grandsons don't get hooked on computer games and such.. when they are here we do other things..that way they have ways of making up their own fun just like when I was a kid..reading is a good thing and I try to get my grandsons excited about it..

I think i'm probably the opposite! I never used to read when I was a child (well I did but not much more than my assigned schoolwork and some other things online) and now I wish I would have read more. I think the problem is finding books kids like to read and implementing them in the schools. I hated reading until I read this one book and now I am hooked.

I would say I read more now than when I was a child. I love reading books. And can usually get one read within 2 days. We have a lot of books in our house because me and my oldest love to read. I told my husband we need to add a library to our house because of the books!

I love to read. I read at least a chapter a night in whatever book I am into at the time. When my granddaughter is here with me, it is usually Junie B. Jones. She loves to read also. I have always loved to read, even as a kid. Neither one of my childred ever did but my granddaughter does.

I love reading still and go through roughly a book a week, sometimes more depending on how much time I have to read. I love reading as it gives you so much more detail than watching it on TV. My kids read as well as my hubby. Though we all have different tastes, we still read. My son doesn't read as much as I would like him to but reading some is better than none at all.

I do read a lot, but mostly during holidays. I can't seem to fit recreational reading with mandatory readings from school. But I do try. Sometimes the book that I picked up is pretty dragging so it takes me about a month to finish it. There are times when I just live on TV and the internet lol! But nothing beats reading, I swear. :) I would like to have my younger cousins to love reading too. I bought them the first 5 books of the Harry Potter series (it cost me about a month's allowance...ouch!). They've seen the movies, now it's time for them to really get into the adventure and they can only do that by reading the books! Lol! :)

I dont read anymore. Reading puts me to sleep quickly. i rather have a storyline being illustrated by the means of films/movie or even pictures.
