hooking up, is it a real trend?

they said that the new generation nowadays are not into serious relationship. young couples prefer not to get totally commited or theres no strings attach to each other. what do i mean? they are in a relationship but they dont act one..simply saying that they hook up to other person to have fun and feel the excitment of having a third person in the relationship. i wont agree to this but they say its a trend is this one of yours?
