I have a pup about 8 months old now and she is female. From the time she was only a couple months old she would jump up on our leg(we would be standing) and she would try to hump our leg. I have tried to explain the her that she is female and females don't do that kind of thing but she is just not listening. LOL. I am getting a little concerned with her and was wondering if this is normal behavior for a female dog to show. She is half black lab and half golden retriever. I have had several other female dogs and males and never had a female do this. Any thoughts from you mylotters? Thanks in advanced! :)

I have this happen with my dog. She is a female too. She has found a big pillow we have in the house and she will mount it and take no prisoners. Now we have to hid the pillow because as soon as she sees it her eyes will light up and we know what's going to happen. All of my friends' female dogs do it also.

Oh wow. LOL The problem is we can't just hide our legs. LOL. It's good it is normal behavior though I was getting concerned that she was wanting to be a male or something. Hahaha. Thanks for the info. :)

Sure it is normal. Females dogs go into heat. They hump the same as males. At least that is what I was taught and what I have seen with my own eyes.

My male dogs did the same thing, and I thought it was really really early. But I read in the paper the other day that dogs can be safely fixed at 8 to 12 weeks. That timeline coincide with my dogs 'activities', so I guess that really is normal to do all that at such a young age.

I can see that but she has done this since shortly after we got her and I can't see her being in heat from 2 months on. This is an every day thing and not just a certain time. Maybe she is just really h*rny! LOL :)

No we don't get ours fixed where we are. There are actually no other dogs around so it isn't a big deal. Maybe I have run across it and just don't remember. LOL I have had a dog for as long as I can remember and don't recall the females acting this way. Oh well! :)
