is it true, herbal medicines may also affect the liver & kidney as side-effect?

Some people tell me that herbal medicines are effective in strenthening the immune system and curing and preventing possible diseases even cancer... and they tell me that it has no side-effects... How come there are also people who tells me that these herbal medicines can also affect the kidney and the liver, two of the most vital organs of our body? In this case, are all medicines have side-effects? How can we possibly take medicines to cure us while not badly affecting our liver and kidney? They say we should take a lot of water so that residues from taking the medicines will be washed out from the body.. Anyone believe this?

It is all in how you use them! Some people mistakenly assume that because herbs are natural that they can not be harmful. You need to know the right dosage. If you overdue it...there can be very dangerous side effects. Also some herbal meds don't mix well with other meds. Before taking any herbal medicine you should read up on it and all the warnings and side effects...maybe consult with your physician and see if it is safe for you. I have a large herbal and vitamin book to look up virtually anything on the subject.I also look up on the internet. Water does flush out the system but then again even too much water can cause problems and flush away nutrients that your body really needs and cause serious damage. Your best bet is to really educate yourself before taking anything.

No medicine herbal or allopath is totally safe, herbal medicines also have active ingredients that affect various parts of our body, so they also should not be taken without consulting the doctors. Ihave seen people who have damaged their kidneys with herbal medicines.

If the herbal medicines are made with the herbal technology and traditionally then there will not be any side effects because they are natural and never affected!
But we know that now a days fruiets are also affecting badly! Because they are artificially made and preventives are used for preservations! So if the herbal medicines are made with new technologies and with new technique also then here would be side effects because mostly they will add something to make the medicine more effective when the disease is there! Some time they use the herbal matirial but with little concentrated alopatic medicines also!!
Just here I am putting the possibilities which are affecting us over all!

I don't think that herbal medicines are harmful to our body system in any way because herbs don't have any side effects.
