ive been paying attention this last month, and noticed everytime, i've been overcharged for some items. i think they just scan wrong, and its so busy that you never notice! so last time i went back in,, i was charged $9.79 for a canteloupe! it was supposed to be $2.79-probly an error on the checkers register.. so now i go back in and get my money-i just wonder how many dollars i have spent extra on items i was charged wrong!

I try to watch each item as it is scanned- I have been overcharged
alot of times- I usually catch it right there at the register- I don't
think its right to have to go to the courtesy desk to get your money
back- it is there mistake- why should we have to wait in another line
to fix the mistake- I mostly use the self-checkers now at the grocery
stores and WalMart- that way I know I'm being charged the right amount-
I'm sure I have missed something several times as well- We work hard
for our money and groceries already cost too much!

Wow! I do think it's a lot of work for them to adjust their pricing all the time, so there's bound to be errors. I sometimes watch the scanner and see what prices ring up as they shoot them thru... I'll have to look more closely now and see what's going on.. and stay away from the canteloupe! Just think though if the store purposely adjusted just one item like that with customers that don't pay attention!

I sure hope the cantelope was extra delicious!!!
I do not usually go over the receipt line by line, my toyal stays in the same range..
You have a great point about the extra pennies charged here and there sure do add up fast!!!!
I'll have to pay closer attention!!!

I will check it if I feel the total is a bit high. I also take part in a consumer panel, and have to register some of the groceries. I feel I am pretty well in controle of our shopping. There are quiete a few errors. We will go back if the error is largish. I will not bother if it is just a few cents, but if it is several dollars we will go back. Sometimes the error is to our benefit. Then we always tell.

Yes, they would make lots and lots from just a few cents per customer. I know about a bank teller that svindled thousands of customers - just took a cent from each - and got a huge amount in the end.
In principle one should always say if there is a mistake. Sometimes that will cause too uch trouble though, if we do not see it at the store.
