As is known to all, lots of people think that if you work hard then you will be successful and gain more, but we also see some people who are working hard all their life, but some of them not be successful even can not afford their own life... I think the society is so tough,so cruel, and even we work hard,we can get guarantee that we can achieve our goals. The opportunities are very important,if we meet them we should catch them and try our best to make good use of them. Sometimes, luck always plays an important roles in our life..... What dou you think about this? Do you believe hard working is useful?

This might be true 50 years ago. lol. I do not believe this works in this era. Work smart, perhaps. I believe one needs to be street smart, have a wide network coupled with lots of luck to be successful. Personally, I don't think the society is cruel. We are all given the same parameters to start with from day1. It is how we walk our path that determines our ultimate destination.

I totally agree with whyaskq. Working hard is good, but working smart is better. Working for money is good, but letting your money work for you is better. We live in a financial world and that's why financial intelligence is so important. That's the path to wealth and freedom.

Gone are the days when hard work would lead you to sucess! In the country where i live, the laziest people are the richest, those who sleep for two hours and work for 22 hours are growing poorer and poorer, thanks to the lazy brutes who hold the reigns of power and sit in the high offices to design polices that take away every fruit of the hard working folks! While Politicians sit in the Board rooms and parliarments to increase their earnings from as many levels as they want with a simple majoriy Ayah vote, they also sit down elsewhere to over tax the hardworking people in very sector of their lives, deny ing them salary increments when only yesterday theirs were astronomically increased, flout public procurement systems and award tender contracts to themselves and their kith and kin, propagate state inspired corruption that demoralizes the very root of social functioning-yes, in an atmosphere like this, hard work and success are completely strange bed-fellows here in Africa, I dont know elsewhere in the world!

each person is unique in his own way and many have hidden qualities which have never been explored, while i congratulate you on your success and may you continue to do so please do not try to compare your success with that of others because in such a situation if someonedoes better than you may tend to build u stress competing leading to depression and other psychosomatic deseases, concentrate onyour self and let your own achievements boost your self esteem. hard work has neverharmed anyone

yes, i still believe that working hard can bring us to be successful. but we are also remembering about our destiny, our faith. That everything will be back to GOD. So, while you re in hard working, you should pray also for your success and that will bring you an improving life. Something sure, dont ever give up in problem of your life :)

Being a hardworker, really pays you in return. But not all happen as quickly as possible. Being a hardworker, is most of the time acceptance of how much you work on, really not the same as how much you earn. Being a hardworker must include smart choice, so as you know how to take care of you earn and if it grew big,you will find the meaning of success. this is in general thinking.

Yes, tracy, work is vital to a person's well-being, but that does not mean that working hard will always bring you success. It also depends on your idea of success. It means different things to different people. I feel that if you are doing work that you enjoy and have a decent homelife after work, have a good standing in your community, then you are successful.

Hi tracy1985 i guess for some people, working hard has its payoffs. Isn't it sweet to feel the rewards of your labor. Although sometimes, doing and working too much can really destroy someone. Its better to balance the hard work with some rest than no rest at all :)

I believe, nowadays, that luck plays also an important role to the success of every human being in this planet....in a nutshell: being at the right place and a the time..... while hard work helps people in their day to day battle for survival, still, opportunity results in a better chance to succeed in life, financial reward specifically speaking... On the other hand, success means fulfillment and/or peace of mind; these do not connote financial reward, rather, a feeling of self contentment. Consequently, while it is good to believe that people themselves can chart their success through perseverance, i still believe that luck can be a vital ingredient in turning one's dream into reality.....

I use to believe it - but not anymore. There was a time when employees were loyal to the company and the company returned the favor. But not anymore today you can work for a company for years and they will downsize or relocate and you will be out of a job before you know it. It has happened to me twice. Now I have learned that you have to watch out for yourself and be careful with your money so that you will have a secure future, because we can't count on a company pension like our parents could.

Not so much of working hard but working smart. Taking some of those lower jobs to become more employable and then do all you can to keep that option viabl. Sometimes you do have to work hard. But clearly knowing what you want and working toward that goal is honorable. Sometimes you can creatively make your opportunities.

Hey t1985, I think I can see your point in the discussion-are you trying to say if you work hard without a goal you won't achieve success? If so,then I agree. I also believe you need to be nice to the superiors to make a positive impression-I'm not trying to say smoozing alone will take you places but you need to be more than just a faceless employee so they will think of you when promotion times come around. +'s 2 U :D

I have worked hard all of my life in my opinion and I also believe that I have tried to work smart. At every job that I have done I always try to do the best that I can. I try to carry this over when working with a business opportunity. Yet at this point I seem to be stuck. It seems like in the past that when I was successful more of it seemed like dumb luck or an act of fate than my own doing. It is important to remain positive though even when things aren't going as they should seem to be going. I believe that success is a combination of hard work, luck, working smart and several other factors. I have a plan in place now that is to work with achieving all my goals in shortly over one year. Hopefully I am able to accomplish this. It involves paying off all of my current debts without incurring new ones if possible and earning even more than what I earned years ago from network marketing, which was in the $4,000 - $5,000 a month range.

Yes hard working is most useful in life. The hard workers can reach to their goals. They can achive the successes of their live. But it is more important that we should select the destination first. We should decide the target or choose the way or route of the target point first and then we should start and kee continue our hard working practice. One can not reach to a place where he or she wants to reach if he is standing at a point and working hard. Organize your self, make a time table, plan to proceed and after this prelimanaries start hard working. You will see that you will get the fruite which you want to get.

Working hard can make you successful, IF you're working hard for the right thing. It also depends on what you consider success. The comment about people not being able to afford their own lives is a totally different topic. But let me comment. People generally get to where they can't afford their lives by not living within their means. Part of that problem is most people aren't taught how to manange their finances. If you don't buy what you can't afford, you don't get in debt. Now somethings, like a house, you can't afford all at once, and that's ok. But you don't need to buy a Lexus when a Beetle will do the job. More money generally doesn't fix the problem. People just spend more and stay in the same bind they are in. So people need to learn to handle finances. As for being successful, if you consider that to be financially free and maybe a bit extra in the bank, working hard for someone else, won't do that for you. Working hard for YOU can. Read the Cash Flow Quadrant by Kiyosaki. It gives a good explanation of how people make money - and it isn't someone that busts their rear working a 9 to 5 job. A little bit might be luck, but you have to be willing to make your opportunities. Your success has a lot to do with your attitude and tenacity. If you're not willing to risk anything, then what can you expect in return? I'm not sure why you think society is tough and cruel. Don't take this the wrong way, but that sounds a bit like the attitude of "the world owes me a living." Look at it this way.. Person A goes out every day and works for a company. 8, 9 10 hours, overtime, extra work etc. They work hard. They get a salary. If that's what they are happy with, everything is fine. Person B works a job too, same thing 8,9 10 hours etc. But they don't want to work for someone else. They spend weekends planning out their own business. They take the risk of losing everything to start their own company and they prosper. They are eventually able to let someone else run their company while they enjoy travel they can now afford. So is life cruel to person A? Even if person A doesn't want to work for someone else, if he doesn't go the extra mile like person B, he doesn't get the same rewards.
