Some sites like paypal or cbank have https:// rather than traditional http:// . So what is that extra 's' for - secure?

What the 's' stands for in the address:
's' - for 'secure' or,
's' - for 'sure, go ahead and log in'
's' - for 'safe'
's' - for 'sign up now and put your payment details in'
's' - for 'suckers forget to look for the "S" '
's' - for 's'okay, man - we're a secure site'
's' - for 'submit away'
Yep, I am sure that it means 'secure' site.
Have a great day!
