my son broke his arm

My son who is 12 years old, went to a birthday party on Saturday where they had a water slide. He went down the slide and some other came down the slide before my son was all the way out, and hit my sons forearm and broke it! One bone broke completely in two, and the other is called a broomstick break! I feel so bad for him, he wasn't crying when we went into the emergency room, so the doctor did not seem to be too worried. Then came the xrays and then they got extremely worried because it was such a severe break! They had to reset it twice, while they only numbed up the arm and then we had to stay overnight. But, he goes back to the doctor tomorrow to have a regular cast put on, they only did a temporary cast, hoping that the swelling would go down some. He also has some muscular damage, so I think that we will have to have some physical therapy. I have to wonder if maybe his bones are not as strong as they should be, and that is something that I am going to discuss with the doctor. Kids can be kids, but the child that hit him was only about half his size so we all thought that it might just be a sprain. Not both of the bones in his arm broken! Anyway, we have a long road ahead of us I think, and I might not be on here as often. Just needed to vent some, thanks!

Oh sugar, I am so sorry for your poor son. I think you are right to discuss this further with the doctor. I hope he will be feeling better quickly.

Thank you! Today is the first full day that we have been at home and he is bored stiff! He can't move around alot until they put the permanent cast on, so we have been playing cards, watching TV, and just napping on and off.

Thank you, and I know it will get better. It is just going to take some time. But, he is being such a good kid about it and I know that it is very painful!
