Biased Recruiting Commercials - What Do You Think?

Is anyone else sick of the military recruiting commercials? They are all about how wonderful it is to join the military and how PROUD the parents should be. I think there should be unbiased information provided in them. Let's have some kids who have come home from Iraq missing limbs on the commercials. Let's have truth in advertising! How about talking about all those that have died in Iraq and who will continue to die over there as long as we are fighting this pointless war? We demand truth in advertising for everything else - why not the military recruitment commercials too? Of course, no one would want to join if they were told the honest truth of being in the military in today's world. Your thoughts?

I have two sons in the Military, one served a years in Iraq, and I am very proud of them. Instead of complaining you shoud be thanking them for keeping you free and safe. They voluntered to put their life on the line to protect you. many of them know that the politicians promise a lot and deliver very little. When asked the military pak up and mover half way around the world to a job that the politicians want done. In WWI the went to France to make the world safe for Democracy. They were promised a bonus and at the end of the war the military did their job and thepoliticians renigedon their word. The troops had to march on Washington to get what was due them. Thepeace loving politicians cut the militray and when Pearl Harbor was attacked we asked the military to do the impossible. Take on the two best armys in the world and the largest Navy in a two front war. Now we ask them to fight an enemy that does nto value human life and is willing to murder a child if they can kill a soldier. An enemy that knows our rules of engagement and uses it against them. They are fighting an enemy that the politicians back home want to give our enemy full constitutional rights at the same time they accuse our soldiers of being Cold Blooded Murgers without even letting the military complete an invesgation. I will leave you with a poem to think about. It is the soldier not the poet who gives you Freedom of Speech. It is the soldier not the reporter that gives you the Freedom of the Press. It is the Soldier not the lawyer who give you the right to a fair trial. As Winston Churchill once said, "there are only two people who have willingly given their life for a stranger. One was Jesus Christ and the other is the American GI.

Well as a prior service member I'd be happy to do a commercial for the military. I served 8 years in the Military and over half my family has served in the military. There has been a member of my family in each generation that has been in a war. I am proud to say that I served my country, I stand pround next to my friends and family that have served and are still serving. If I had it to do all over again I'd do it without hessitation. Was it always nice hell no, but am I a better person for doing it HELL YES. Would I encourage anyone else to join HELL YES.

I would be happy to see a commercial with a prior military member on it - but I would want them to tell the truth about what being in war was like so that the kids considering joining would have complete information instead of getting the sugar-coated stuff that they are showing on the commercials now. I know my dad who served in WWII and my military friends who have come home from Iraq say they never want to go to war again. Thanks for the response.

Are any other commercials unbiased? No.... Those that are fighting in Iraq signed up and were paid for their duty already. They knew what they were getting into. Not to mention that 3000+ deaths in 4 years out of 110,000 troops (not the same troops over the entire 4 years either, so even more) means that showing troop casualities and injuries is an even more unfair showing.
