Russia and China are both growing economically and that has already resulted in a shift. There are also other countries which will experience economic power like Brazil and India. Power shifts are inevitable - history has shown that time and time again the greatest powers always fall or their influence wanes.

Judging by the present scenario it is quiet evident that a new superpower may exist by the year 2020.But this does not mean that the US will no longer be a superpower. The answer to this lies in what policy each of this countries like Russia ,US or China is adopting and who influence over whom. India may well play an important role in this game plan to both the countries becoz of its location ,and other reasons. Thus in my opinion whether it may be china-russia or US the one who has more access or say the socio politic economy of india will a stand a better chance in this race.

Russia... no. The cold war is over. Russia is disbanded.
China... there's enough people but they are WAY behind (read up on on Rudy Guliani is saying about free-trade with China)
India... there is money and there are people... unfortunately they are all poor and such a few amount are actually in power.
I believe the US is the last of the 'Super Powers' if that is the label you want to put on it. The world is becoming so much of a global economic situation, I don't think any country would allow another to grow so strong.
If the EU has anything to say about it... they are the major threat to the US as a superpower.
