Refinishing an old table

The table sanded - My teenager is holding my table that is newly sanded. This is before painting. The flat part here is what is now flat black and it has 4 rosebuds on it now.

I have decided to refinish an old end table that I picked up at a yard sale. I have made it into more of a small coffee type table. It has been sanded, wood putty used as needed, and painted. The table legs are glossy black and the table is itself is gold. Then when I was doing this much, I decided I wanted a flat surface to practice One Stroke painting on so I painted the inlayed part flat black. I have started painting on it (I have a few rosebuds) and I am determined to learn cabbage roses yet LOL How about you all---any trash to treasure things you have done?

Hats off to you sugar. Great idea, and you save a lot, not to mention ackomplishment. I buy things new. I am an artist, so I have enough on my plate to do daily.

Progress on yard sale find table - This is a picture of what my table looks like so far. This is merely the top of it (the legs are laying elsewhere waiting for me to finish the top). I have done One Stroke painting on it--rosebuds and Queen Anne's Lace. Not sure what else I am doing on it--though I am hoping to put a big cabbage rose (in color to match the rosebuds) smack dab in the center. Just need to get those petal strokes down first LOL
An artist??? WOW I bet you DO have lots to do on a daily basis. I am loving redoing this table. Right now it has been sanded, filled in (where it needed to be), the legs have been painted gloss black, the table top itself has been painted gold and the inlaid part was painted flat black. I have started to paint flowers on it. So far I have roses and queen annes lace. I am adding a photo of it so far.

That is a great idea! You can find some good bargains that don't appear to be so if you use your imagination..huh! We had an old cabinet, and I mean old! We redid all the wood on the outside..leaving the shlves, and innerboards. We replaced the extior and refinished the cabinet. We sanded,a nd stained it, them we finished it off with that glossy stuff. It looks great in our kitchen. There are three doors on it. the one on the left goes all the way up, and there is a shelf on the top for trash bags and things like that..with the trash can on the bottom. The right side has a door on the top, and open space in the middle for the microwave, and a door on the bottom with three shelves for cookware. I would love to do something like this again!

I haven't done anything like that, but my husband has. He got an old antique clock that was painted black. He removed all the paint to the original wood, and it is awesome looking.
