In the Philippines, we too also say "Hi" or "Hello" oftentimes, we say "Kumusta?" (How are you? from the Spanish "Como estas?" or the shorter "Musta?")

Aside from the greetings that my fellow Filipino mentioned above, we also say "Mabuhay" especially when greeting tourists who visit our country.

Oh yeah. That's right. I forgot to mention "Mabuhay!" which literally means "Long Live." It's a common greeting specially when we greet an arriving tourist... :D Thanks!

Can I really be the first one from the US to reply here? We say "Hello" formally, but "Hi" informally, but there are some other regional greetings, such as "Howdy" or "Hey!" Shaking hands is mostly for very formal occasions these days, such as a job interview.
