Mmmmm. I love dark chocolate. The darker, the better. Does anyone know of some really good dark chocolate you might reccomend? I love Dove, Godiva, but I'm hoping to open my horizons!!! It would be better if the bar didn't contain any milk, but I'm open to anything for the best chocolate!!! : )

Normally I am not into dark chocolate at all but one afternoon I grabbed a Dove bar and instead of the regular milk chocolate one, I grabbed dark chocolate accidentally. I tell you this - it was unlike any other dark chocolate I ever had. It was smooth, not bitter and the after taste was awesome. I don't know of any other 'good' dark chocolate but I saw you mentioned Dove. Two thumbs up for that!

The best dark chocolate I've tasted so far is from Ghirardelli. I can only take between 50% to 72% dark, though. More than that is too bitter for my taste already. I say Ghirardelli is the best having tried Hershey's dark (their product is too sweet for me), Dove, and other less known imported chocolates (here in the Philippines, at least) like Alprose, Sarotti and other brands I cannot remember at this time. Another good one is Lindt dark. When my budget doesn't allow me to buy Ghirardelli or Lindt, I could settle with Black Meiji from Japan (they also have a 50% or more dark kind) which is a lot cheaper but tastes nearly as good as the expensive ones.

Hotel Chocolat do a really good range of chocolate. all different percentages, and some of them are single estate, so you can really get the flavour of cocoa beans from different parts of the world.

this is their "purist" range

which includes the darker chocolates and the single estate chocolates.

I love dark chocolate! When I read the title of this thread I immediately thought of Dove and saw you already had it listed! I haven't had a whole lot of different brands of dark chocolate but of the ones that I have had, Dove is my favorite. I saw that M&M now has a dark chocolate variety. I am going to have to try it. I wonder what dark chocolate would taste like with the candy shell?

Actually, this is the best time for dark chocolate lovers; because of the health benefits, more companies are coming out with the dark chocolate.
I ususally eat the Hersheys Special Dark or Dove. But, I have also tried Ghiradelli and Hersheys "Cocoa Reserve". I have even tried the WalMart/Sams dark chocolate bars (large bar) and they are also pretty good. I haven't tried the Coco Via bars yet.
