depression is caused by persistent worry, and i think that worry is anegative way of meditation. But more often that not, we get depressed by the circumstances and situations around us. should the turn of events around us through us into depression? How can we control depression

Well, sometimes its unavoidable that we feel depressed for the day..but for the health its not a good side, i believe in Meditation which will balance our mind and helps to be normal at situations.

You are absolutely correct when you say that worry is a "negative way of meditation." It IS negative meditation. When your thoughts and feelings are so negative you attract more negative things to you. So when you start feeling down, do what I do... put on a song that absolutely makes you smile. Think about all the good things in your life that you are thankful for, and move forward. When you are feeling more positive, then positive things will be attracted to you!!

Hi,
I think depression is often misunderstood by people. In fact, many mental illnesses are misunderstood. They are as serious as any physical infliction that occur, yet people who suffer from them are usually treated poorly by others...like they are slfish or have done something wrong. Depression has many causes, but hereditary is a main one. The only way I have managed to live with my depression is to get it treated and go on medication. There is a big difference however between feeling down and having full blown depression. Full blown depression can be quite debilitating and lead to dire consequences if not treated.
