Yes, I very much agree with you. Saving is most important in life. I always tell my kids to save money. My son, who is very naughty and restless, will always tells me...Papa, I have saved some amount, get a CD of games. He loves to buy games CDs with his saved money.

Hi Lyn,
This is a very valuable gift to give to your children. To develop an appreciation of money is something which will be a lifelong benefit. I have tried to teach my daughters this but with very little success. They tend to save for a while and then they just go out and blow their money. I really think that sometimes in order to appreciate money you have to go without it for a while.
cheers,

Yeah your right me at my youngest daughter now that is ten I don't give money to her if she did not need it. I give her food for her snack in school and she just ask mony for me to her piggy bank to save. Coz I know even they want to save money if they saw what thing they want they been tempt to buy it rather save it.

My girls grew up learning to save, even when they were very young. I'm trying to teach my grandson (4) how to be a saver too. He has his own piggy bank and knows that when he gets money, at least some of it has to go into his piggy bank for something he might want later on. It's good to start learning how to save, even at an early age.

I tell myself and even my friends to save money for future as future is uncertain. nobody predict wht is in future for us. so be in safeside and safe the money as much as possible. frankly speaking its rather to difficult for me atleast to save. whvever money comes, i keep in safe place but how expenditure know and comes in.
its good for your side tht you put your daughters in rite direction. keep this habit and try to maintain it as much as possible. thanks and keep smiling.

yes. all my three kids are raised to be thrifty. in fact i have given them piggy banks each where they can save some from there allowances and tell them they can open it when its full. but, im even more glad when they ask for a bigger piggy bank so it would take time for them to fill it up.

For me I believe that teaching our children the value of money when they are still young is very important. We have to tell them that buying junk food is a waste of money and that they rather save their coins on their coin bank.

Hello Lyn,
Yes I teach my children to save money even though they are still young. I have only one savings for all three of them which we use for emergencies and they have a piggy bank. I often express to them that I can’t always give them what they want because I am more focused on providing them with what they need. They save their money in a piggy bank for things they want such as ordering pizza, getting a cartridge for their game boy or even to go to the movies. Each month my 9 year old son and 5 year old daughter manage to save about thirty dollars between them and then they decide what they want to get. I feel that it is important to teach them about money and how they have to work for it. They have to know that mommy doesn’t always have the money to get what they want but if they save their money they can get it themselves without waitng for me to have the extra money, which can take up to three months depending on how much the bills are...lol

I think that right now my children are too young to teach things like that to. They are just toddlers BUT I would love to teach this to them when they get a little older, considering what our world is comming to nowadays. If anyone has any great tips on how to do so, I would really appreciate it!

Yes. I even do it myself. I've got a savings account for him. We have 2 coin banks at home. And his school teaches them how to save. They were asked to bring a coin bank and it's up to them on how they will fill those up. Each day he goes to school, I give him coins to put in his big piggy bank. I'm not sure if he can completely understand the true purpose of saving. But still, it's a great advantage for my child to learn how to save even in an early age. So in case of emergency situations, he will have the chance to use his savings. I hope that in the days to come as he grows older and much more mature, he will learn to accept and understand that saving up for the future demands a sense of responsibility and discipline.
