An appeal to those who know the power of prayer

Hello! My almost-SIL (Dot) has been diagnosed with brain cancer, glioblastoma multiforme type IV. This is the most deadly form of glioma, and her prognosis is not good, 1 to 6 months. We are going to fight with every tool we can muster. Dot has a strong Christian faith, and this will be a powerful weapon for her in the months ahead. Will you please include her and my brother in your prayers? Those of you who know me are probably aware that I am an atheist, you may have read my little riff about about all religions being a matter of opinion until someone's Messiah shows up. That applies equally well to my non-belief. I will happily debate about religion, but I also respect that a person's faith can be a powerful force for good in their life. At this time, what I believe doesn't matter. This isn't about me. I have and will continue to bow my head in silence when Dot wants to pray. I hope that the folks reading this will not hold my beliefs against my warm, wonderful, loving a-SIL. Thanks for reading, and for your prayers and support in this time of dire need. Yay! A decent atheist! I am an atheist, as well, but the power of prayer can work, and it doesn't have a thing to do with god. To me, it is your family and friends being around you, and knowing that they are thinking about that person. You are a great SIL, and I'm glad that you help Dot to pray in her time of need. I wish you and your family all the best in this time.

Honey I have no words to describe how I feel for you all right now - my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family - I really hope that Dot can fight this and that you have the strength for what lies ahead! Why on earth would anyone hold your beliefs against either yourself or your lovely almost Sister in Law! You are entitled to believe and express what you believe in and that should never mean that you cannot ask for prayers, positive thoughts, good vibes or anything else that others do believe in! I for one do believe in prayer and I have kept you all in my prayers and I will continue to do so as long and as hard as it takes! Please give Dot my love and tell her that we are thinking of her and praying for her - as we are for the whole family sweets! Huge Hugs and much love to you honey! xxx

I will pray. I will also pray for you, that you may know the reality of the power of prayer. Who could hold your beliefs against the well being of another person?

I just want you to know I have been praying for them ever since your first discussion and I will continue to do so because I truly believe in the power of prayer. I have nor responded to all your discussion because I honestly did not know what to say but my thoughts have been with you and your family.

I have added Dot to my Prayer and Praise list at http://www.lifeasachristianwoman.com. Many of my Christian friends and church family visit the site periodically to check for prayer requests, so many will be praying for her. Please let her know she is loved in Christ and I wish her God's peace.

I just came accross the discussion today. May I know the update on the situation today after some months?
