Using dried apples, you can make these Apple Jumbles :
You need
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup diced dried apples
3/4 cup walnut pieces
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon together.
Cream together the butter and sugars. Add the extract and egg. Beat until light and fluffy.
Add the dry ingredients and the buttermilk, one third at a time, alternating and starting with the dry ingredients. Add the apples and nuts.
Drop the batter by spoonfuls on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until done. Cool on a wire rack.
