Those who are working in big offices/factories would have experienced having 2 bosses, giving altogether different directions, making the process messy. Can you narrate your experience and how managed two bosses without hurting their ego?

managing two or more bosses is very easy... just when carrying out their work... just ask your bosses to decide whose work is more important and that work can be carried out first... this keeps you safe and never hurt the ego of your bosses...

What happens if both the bosses say their work should be done on priority. Thanks for your response.

so you should always ask your bosses to decide about it... the time is gone when bosses said and we had to do it by hook or by crook without giving your opinion... the new concept is, let the bosses know what all you have in hand to be done, if his work is more important, let the other boss know about it and then they will decide among themselves, likewise you did your job of obeying their orders...

That's a tough one. I have 2 bosses my prof and the post doc fellow in the lab.But i dont know, i mean maybe because it is in Netherlands but they are very open and they never are boss in the strict sense of it..The only drawback is the we have endless discussions each week instrad of experimental work!

You mean to say, if there is only one to guide, you would have made remarkable progress in your research? This problem persists everywhere throughout the world, however advanced the country is.

I dont know whether i would have made remarkable progress, however sometimes i have to deal with conflicting opinions, share sessions where i have to explain my reasoning in duplo, 2 work discussions every week..etc..One boss would be better i believe.

I've worked before in a trading company reporting to 2 bosses at the same time. Worst! they are brothers with different point of view in every aspect of business. 1 boss will tell you to go this way, the other one will tell you to go opposite way. It got so bad, i was feeling so stuck in between that I have to leave that company before i go crazy!

Thanks for very interesting response of how you got sandwiched. I hope in spite of all these, you had your regular sandwich for lunch/breakfast. The 2 boss thing explained by you was the main thing that was working in my mind when I introduced the discussion.

I have 3 bosses.. and so far I never have any problem with them.. even they gimme work in the same time.. I will do which work is more important and then I will do the rest later.. Even they have different points they will discuss it and will have one conclusion.. As long as the bosess understand and respect each other I dun think there will be a problem..

You are something lime 3-in-one. It probably requires extraordinary care and understanding to run the show for 3 bosses. It is really great and is not so easy job. I should admire you for that. Thanks for your interesting and detailed response. You proved that with tact one can handle 3, why three more!!
