when ruffa gutierrez, a filipina actress, and ylmaz bektas, turkish businessman, broke up shaking the showbiz industry here in the philippines, it got me questioning... can lovers of different interest and ideas click together? can friends of different beliefs and opinion stick with each other?

HI,
May be it might be clash between two cultures, still I hope those who get loved may find bit difficult to keep it stable in practical life. Still there are few whom I know have a better relationship even they are from different cultures. May be it might be changes that makes them clash the situations that they find to cope with.

At first you love each other , but after that you have to find something else in your relationship like just love.I am from Europe, my boyfriend is american and yeah our cultural is different. But everything wants compromise and working on the relationship. If you trust each other and can talk openly about things, there is way when it can work.We laso have different interest, but one weekend we do what he wants and another what I want to do.How I said, the couple just have to tolerate each other , be honest with each other and work on their relationship.Everything is possible. You just have to want.

I have a friend (filipina) who has a belgian boyfriend. They often clash and argue. Based from what I was seeing first hand, their main problem was not really because of, well, 'cultural differences' but their stubbornness and inability to adapt to each person's personality.

ofcourse they can! there's always a converging point where two people meet. even if you were raised in a different country or have different cultures.
ruffa and ylmaz's case is waaaay too overrated. you know who showbiz runs in our country.
