I have a plant(a tree) about 7 feet tall right on top of a sewer pipe which is 3 feet below ground. I begin to worry if the roots will crack the pipe or in any way affect the pipe?

More than likely you will have problems in a few years, especially in dryer climates. The roots go to where they can find moisture. I am speaking from experence. The darn things get into everything and can cause all kind of problems.
I now get my sewer roto rootered every year now. No more problems

Hello,
This could become a problem for you. I know people that have had sewer and water pipes broken by tree roots. It usually take several years. Your tree does not sound like it is very big yet. Maybe you can transfer it to another place. Good luck.
