Hello agian. I recently made a discussion on my new kitten, Toby. LOL! Turns out hes NOT a hellcat. He was just TOO scared of the DOGS. He adapted to people JUST fine.
How can I get my little Toby to like our dogs? When he sees the dogs, he hisses and tries to pick a fight, then runs off and hides. Right now hes behind a gate to keep the dogs out and Toby's just loving his dog-free environment... i want him to get to know the house though. What could I do to make this easier? (AND SAFER!) :) (I like safe...safe rox.)

it will be ok don't worry take it one step at a timegive them there own rooms for space away from each other and if possible let your cat smell your dogs from underneath the door when you see your cat doing this and getting more and more inquisitive to what is at the other side bring one dog in the room and make him lay down eventual your cat will start too get closer. this method will take some time but will be wirth it in the end. good luck

I would make sure that the kitten has his/her own room or place to stay in and allow the cat to get acclimated gradually.
My sister tried this and it worked. She has two large dogs and a few months ago, took in a stray cat. As the cat became friendlier, my sister allowed it access to her home's breezeway, where she placed food and a little cat bed. Then as the cat became more comfortable, my sister allowed the cat in the house when the dogs were in the backyard and moved the cat's things to a spare room. From that point on, the cat and the dogs became acquainted gradually. It took time, but the cat is totally comfortable around both dogs and the dogs are used to her and rarely chase or otherwise bother her.
The key is taking things slow, one step at a time.
