my education provider still insists that some centers/parents still uses cloth nappies, and therefore insists on assessing students on both cloth and disposable-i disagree with this as the majority of centers that i have been too use disposable nappies. what are your thoughts on this?

I don't know any places that take kids wearing cloth nappies - i think it's a hygiene thing - like in child care centres etc.
I used to use cloth when i was at home with my daughter but when we went out, disposables are more convenient & you don't have to carry around dirty, smelly cloth nappies.
I think people should use the cloth ones more but it seems as though people are getting lazy, my sister in law just had a baby & i offered to give her a heap of cloth nappies - my mother in law just laughed & said not to bother coz they wouldn't get used.
I thought it was a bit weird she wouldn't even use them at home coz it's not like she had anything else to do (she doesn't drive, work or anything like that) & disposables are so expensive - i bought them to save myself money.
Having said that, they have done studies to show that disposable nappies aren't any less expensive these days, apparently the water used, washing poweder, electricity ends up costing about the same so maybe the only people still using them are the ones that do actually care about the environment.

My mother used to use cloth diapers for my sister and I when we were at home during the week, but disposable ones when we went camping, or to our cottage which didn't have laundry facilities. Disposable ones were just easier for those weekend trips.

The environmentally responsible thing is Cloth Diapers and this is what I will use for any babies from here on out. They are not as much work to clean and such as people think. They have come a long way since the 60's and 70's plus it saves you a lot of money in the long run and saves our environment. I am totally for cloth diapers versus disposable.
